2014 Team Preview: Ripley HS

Nickname: Vikings
Class: 3A
League: MSAC
Head Coach: Shane Casto
2013 Overall Record: 12-20 (Lost in sectional finals)

TOP PLAYERS:

Christopher Jordan, SS/RHP, Class of 2016 (Honorable Mention All-State 2013)
Cody Pittenger, 2B/3B/RHP, Class of 2016 (Special Honorable Mention MSAC 2013)
Isaac Koontz, 1B/RHP, Class of 2015 (Honorable Mention MSAC 2013)
Trevor Tucker, OF/RHP, Class of 2015
Logan McCoy, LHP/OF, Class of 2016

SEASON OUTLOOK:  

The bad news for Ripley is that OF Tyler Pittenger, a three year starter and a Special Honorable Mention All-State selection, has graduated. The good news is that eight starters and the entire pitching staff return this season for coach Shane Casto to build on.

ACCORDING TO THE COACH:

"Last season was definitely a rebuilding season. At times, we started five freshmen. We have eight starters back and our entire pitching staff. Our No. 3 hitter was a three year starter and will be tough to replace, but we have a lot of youthful experience coming back this season and they are ready to get going. The big plus is that we will have our entire team back again next season. This year could potentially have some ups and downs with the youth we have, but we expect to be clicking when tournament time rolls around."
