As we prepare for the upcoming 2015 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Team: Chapmanville
Nickname:
Tigers
Class:
2A
League:
Cardinal Conference
Head Coach: Eric Ellis
2014 Overall Record: 29-6 (lost in state semifinals)

TOP PLAYERS:
Tristan Thompson, SS/RHP, Class of 2015 (2nd Team All-State selection in 2014)
Trey Dalton, LHP/OF, Class of 2015 (Special Mention All-State selection in 2014)
Austin Ellis, 3B/RHP, Class of 2015 (2nd Team All-Conference in 2014)
Jordan Cook, OF/C, Class of 2016 (6'1", 215-lb. junior)
Chris Bailey, C/RHP, Class of 2017 (Honorable Mention All-State selection in 2014)

Others to watch:
Jacob Dingess
, OF/IF, Class of 2016
Alex Berry, IF/RHP, Class of 2016

SEASON OUTLOOK:
The Tigers came within an eyelash of playing for a state title in 2014, losing to 3-1 to eventual state champion Bridgeport. Trey Dalton, the hard luck loser in that game, returns along with a deep pitching staff to make the Tigers an early favorite to make a return trip to Charleston in 2015.

According to the Coach:
"The 2015 version of the Chapmanville Tigers should be another solid team. The strength will be pitching and defense, as we return five of our top six pitchers from last year. We feel like if the offense can score a few runs a game, we will have a chance to win a lot of games. We should be among the top teams in AA."
