Galusky Impressive in Fall College Prospect Program

A solid group of middle infielders displayed their abilities during the course of the first weekend of the Fall College Prospect Program. The middle infielders represented two states and three classes. Following is a breakdown of the middle infield prospects in attendance.

Top Performers

1. 2B/SS Ted Williams, Meadville HS, Class of 2014

Williams showcased the top middle infield arm of the weekend at 84 mph across the diamond. The 5-foot-9, 145-pound Millersville University recruit showcased soft hands and a clean transition in game action, taking part in three double play turns over the two games. The left-handed hitter went 5-for-7 in game action, finishing with two triples on day two at Seton Hill University.

Jimmy Galusky2. Jimmy Galusky, Preston HS (WV), Class of 2014

Galusky displayed soft hands, quick feet and a clean transition for his shortstop position. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound uncommitted senior has the ability to make all the plays and a strong arm at 81 mph across the diamond. Galusky hits from an open stance and utilizes all fields with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. He went 2-for-3 with a double at the plate in game action.

3. 2B/SS Devon Walker, Dubois HS, Class of 2014

Walker showcased an impressive 87 mph bat exit velocity and a very short swing path. He consistently barreled the baseball in batting practice and showed some gap power. Walker is a dependable middle infielder with an 83 mph arm across the diamond and a very quick release. He has the ability to play the ball on the move and shows good lateral foot speed.

4. SS John Matthews, Punxsutawney HS, Class of 2016

Matthews has legitimate two-way ability, with his defensive work standing out for a prospect his age. The 6-foot, 150-pound middle infielder showed an 83 mph arm across the diamond and agile feet. Matthews has a tendency to get a bit long with his swing plane, but barrels the baseball consistently and the ball jumps off his bat. While he went hitless on the weekend, he showed good plate presence and will be a quality hitter at the next level.

Best of the Rest

2B Luke Kisiel, Connellsville HS, Class of 2015

Kisiel is a 5-foot-10, 140-pound prospect that shows fundamentally sound actions in the field with a 66 mph arm across the diamond. The right-handed hitter utilized a high hands load and a direct swing path to the baseball to barrel the baseball consistently with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph. Kisiel went 0-for-3 in game play, but squared the baseball in two of those at bats.

SS Drew Lett, Doddridge County HS (WV), Class of 2016 

Lett showcased raw actions in the middle infield with a 70 mph throwing arm across the diamond. The 6-foot-2, 160-pound prospect showcased a wide stance with little stride that produced a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Lett went 0-for-3 in game action, hitting into two double plays, the 2nd of which was of the rarely seen 3-2-3 variety.

2B Trevor Miller,  Penn Hills HS, Class of 2015

Miller showed fundamentally sound actions and good carry to throws of 73 mph across the diamond. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound right-handed hitter utilized a square stance and a short swing path to consistently barrel the baseball in batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph.

2B/SS Zack Zimmerman, Derry Area HS, Class of 2014

The 5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance and stays inside the baseball well through extension creating a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Zimmerman showed the ability to play through the baseball defensively and a 73 mph arm across the diamond. He went 1-for-2 at the plate in game action with a triple.
