Jefferson (12-1), ranked No. 2 in the PBR Elite Eight Class AAA rankings, made quick work of Hedgesville yesterday with a 14-2 game shortened by the run rule. Andy Disque went the distance on the hill striking out seven while walking two. The senior allowed two unearned runs while allowing six hits.

Andrew KingThe Cougars offense pounded out eleven hits over four at bats with Andrew King and Charlie Barnholt carrying the load. The No. 2 and No. 3 hitters in the Jefferson lineup combined for six hits, nine total bases, five runs scored and seven RBI.

Jefferson jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, added four runs in the third, and blew the game open with eight insurance runs in their fourth and final at bat.

The Cougars are riding a five game win streak and have yet to lose an in-state game in 2015. Their lone loss came at the hands of Hammonton, NJ while playing in the Mingo Bay Classic in South Carolina. Jefferson will look to continue their winning ways when they host Moorefield, currently ranked No. 3 in the PBR Elite Eight Class A rankings, in a Saturday double header.

Hedgesville (6-10) returns to action this evening with an away game at Martinsburg.
