Game of the Day: Parkersburg South at Ripley

AR-160529891.jpg (565×768)Ripley, No. 8 in the most recent Metro News AA Power Rankings, defeated No. 10, Parkersburg South, thanks to executing in crucial situations.  Parkersburg South stranded an army on the bases as eight hits, four walks and a Ripley error resulted in only two runs.

Parkersburg South would score their only two runs in the first.  A walk and singles by Drew Yanok, Bryce Eagle and Hunter Delong gave the Patriots an early 2-0 lead.

Ripley got one back in the third thanks to a Remy Boyce single and Glenville State recruit Anthony Jarvis' (currently No. 8 in the WV Class of 2017 rankings) RBI double.  The Vikings tied the score at 2-2 in the fourth on a single by Rocky Ford followed by Salem Lane CastoInternational recruit Benjamin Mack's run scoring double. Ripley  took the lead for good in the fifth getting two more on Boyce's second single, a single by Alderson Broaddus recruit Lane Casto (currently No. 9 in the WV Class of 2017 rankings and pictured right), and two Patriot errors.  Leading 4-2 Ripley plated one run without a hit in the sixth to establish the 5-2 final.

Ripley winning pitcher Dane Peterson went 6.2 innings allowing eight hits and one earned run while striking out seven and walking three.  Multiple hit games for the Patriots included Bryce Eagle and Drew Yanok who both singled twice and went 2-for-3.  Boyce and Mack also went 2-for-3 for the Vikings.
