Travis RennerThe Pennsylvania Preseason All-State Showcase will allow 178 talented prospects from three states to display their abilities over two days at the B2B Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA. Among those scheduled to participate, four hail from West Virginia.

C/2B Travis Renner (University HS) will participate on both days working out as an infielder on Day One and as a catcher on Day Two. A four-year starter at University, Renner has shown an 89 mph exit velocity off the tee and solid catch-and-throw abilities behind the plate. The 6-foot, 185-pound prospect, ranked No. 11 in the WV Class of 2014, will be among a small group of talented unsigned seniors in attendance.

Additional Seniors on the roster

RHP Michael Hunter (Brandywine Heights)

Hunter is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound prospect that sits in the upper 80s. He is the lone prospect on the two-day roster that is signed. Hunter originally committed to the University of Pittsburgh before changing his commitment and signing an NLI with Marist in November. Hunter is ranked No. 39 in the PA and No. 283 in the PBR combined Class of 2014 rankings.

SS/OF/RHP Jake Pacheco (Emmaus)

Pacheco is currently ranked No. 205 in the PA Class of 2014, but could rise significantly with a solid performance next weekend. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound unsigned senior had the top all-around performance at the Eastern PA College Prospect Showcase in January. Pacheco showcased the top outfield arm (87 mph) and infield arm (84 mph) at the event and went on to sit 81-83 from the mound.

RHP Zach Newmyer (Red Land HS)

Newmyer is coming off a breakout 2013 season in which he was a 1st Team Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division pitcher. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound righty sits 83-85 with arm side run to his fastball and is ranked No. 149 in the PA Class of 2014. Newmyer has added 10 mph to his fastball in the past two years and with his frame does not appear to be close to finished developing.
