WV Director of Scouting

In the spirit of March Madness the first rendition of the Prep Baseball Report Elite Eight Rankings are being released this week. We will be counting up to No. 1 with one new team in each classification being released each day until we unveil the No. 1 team in each. Following is a look at the teams ranked No. 5 in their respective classes.

class a:  No. 5 - weirton madonna

The Blue Dons have to find a way to replace Tory Fuscardo's 50.1 innings on the mound. If they do, Madonna could make things interesting in this region with the remainder of their 2013 lineup returning including Kent State recruit Luca Fuscardo.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Will Bowser, OF/RHP (Class of 2014)
Ross Comis, OF (Class of 2014)
Luca Fuscardo, OF/LHP (Class of 2014)
Kaleb Baire, SS/2B (Class of 2015)

class Aa:  No. 5 - liberty (Raleigh)

Gone from that roster that notched 24 wins are just three seniors, but two of them were captains Austin Lyons and Joey Lacek. The Raiders will once again have to get by Independence in the Section I tournament in order to have a shot at the region title.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Dylan Keel, 1B (Class of 2015)
Jake Lacek, RHP/C (Class of 2015)

class aAA:  No. 5 - wheeling park

Wheeling Park High School logo.jpgThe Patriots return a lot from last year's 24-6 squad, but will have to replace Andrew Kowalo (1st Team All-State, Potomac State College) and Trevor Stewart (West Liberty University). Two underclassmen that will be asked to help pick up the slack are RHP Phillip Bledsoe (2016) and RHP/C Daniel Baciak.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Justice Jackson, LHP/OF (Class of 2014)
Michael Grove, RHP/SS (Class of 2015)
