West Virginia Prospects Head to PA Top Prospect Games

Andrew ZbanA trio of West Virginia position players will look to catch the eyes of college scouts next week when they make the trek north to participate in the PA Top Prospect Games on June 17 and 18 at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler, PA. A total of 95 prospects from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia are on the roster of top high school prospects.

2015 OF Andrew Zban (Huntington, top right), 2015 C/3B Zach Minnick (Logan, middle right) and 2016 C Tanner Lambert (East Fairmont, bottom right) will represent Zach MinnickWest Virginia along with Michael Grove (Wheeling Park) who was highlighted as a pitcher yesterday (see story).

Zban is coming of a spring in which he hit .330 with 25 RBI for the Highlanders. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound left-handed hitter's 15 doubles and five home runs accounted for more than half of his 31 total hits.

Minnick is no stranger to Prep Baseball Report events. Ranked Tanner LambertNo. 1 in the WV Class of 2015, the 6-foot, 215-pound right-handed hitter participated for Team Pennsylvania at last summer's PBR Future Games on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Minnick showed his power potential with a game winning home run to propel Team Pennsylvania over Team Missouri.

Lambert just completed a solid sophomore season for East Fairmont helping the Bees advance to the sectional finals. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound catcher was an Honorable Mention All-Big 10 selection as a freshman in 2013.

The PA Top Prospect Games are in their 3rd year of existence and will kick start the summer schedule of Prep Baseball Report events in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The summer's culminating event will be the two day West Virginia Top Prospect Games on August 9 and 10 at the YMCA Kennedy Center Field in Huntington.
