With Sectionals going on and me sitting at a restaraunt 2 hours from home waiting for the Sectional Finals, I thought it was a great time to give you 8 names you should know from the 2013 class. This is 8 guys I feel might be flying under the radar or I haven't talked much about.
2013 Catchers Demetrius Webb (North Central)-- The best catch and throw guy in the state. Quick release and a strong accurate arm. Such a good tool it does not matter how he hits. Webb will collect several Division one offers throughout the summer.
Austin Schultz (Greensburg)-- More offensive than Webb (.500 6HRS) Schutz is athletic behind the plate and shows a consistent 1.98-2.05 pop time.
Austin Sparks (Cathedral)--The highest IQ of the three and the most expierenced. A low 2 pop time and an accurate strong arm.
2013 Arms Zac Plesac (Crown Point)-- Biggest buzz junior arm in the state. Plesac has been sitting 87-89 and touched 91 on numerous occasions.
Chad Whitmer (Penn)-- Whitmer sits 84-86 from the right side. But as a young junior, he has not learned to pitch in his upper velocity consistently enough. Whitmer was impressive in the 9th inning of a game a few weeks ago when he was 87-89 the whole inning.
Devin Bafia (Valpo)--- Bafia is quickly rising as a LHP pitcher prospect. Bafia is 81-83 with a very pitch ability. He has a good breaking ball and spots his pitches very well. He consistently has shut down the top lineups in the state all year.
Brandon Phelps (Snider)-- Phelps is a sleeper for sure. is arm is quick and electric at times. Phelps sits 84-88 and still has flaws mechanically suggesting he will throw harder in the near future.
Zac Brown (Seymour)-- Is another big sleeper in the state. Brown was just a good arm, not anymore. Brown has a good breaking ball to go along with his 88-89 fastball. Brown should emerge as a highly recruited arm in Indiana.
