Medium/large framed, 6 foot 1, 177-pound catcher, with athletic movements that brings a physical presence behind the plate. Current power is in lower half of body with developing upper body strength. Displays a hit first profile with an advanced offensive approach. Has wide, slightly open stance with minimal stride. Sprays the ball to all fields with authority, and consistent loud contact. Has aptitude to pull hands inside of BSBL and shows ability to recognize secondary pitches and square them up. Has shown streaky power in games, but displays raw over the fence power in BP. Guangorena has plus bat speed and creates excellent leverage with natural lift in swing. He is faster than expected for the catching position with an easy stride out of the box. Exhibits plus catch & throw ability with an accurate, quick release and consistent sub 2.0 times to 2B. Definitely has enough arm strength to cut down running game at the pro level. Possesses excellent receiving skills with soft hands and the knack to manipulate the strike zone. Set position is athletic, low & comfy. Has excellent lateral movement, quick feet, instincts, and wants to block balls in the dirt. Guangorena is a winner, and a fierce competitor with excellent leadership qualities.
4/10/18 – The CS Fullerton commit went 1 for 4 with a ringing, stand-up, RBI double off Cole Winn, Orange Lutheran, Ca. in the 1st inning. Ojeda (Guangorina) turned in a 3-quality AB night while scoring a run. He exhibited a rock-solid performance, and a strong, quick arm behind the dish, picking off a runner at first base in a critical situation to get out of an inning. Guangorena called a magnificent game for this battery mate Isaiah Horton's complete game 4 hit shutout.
6/2017 - Good, lean frame. Runs well for catcher. Down the line in 4.2-4.3 seconds. Quick actions behind the plate. 1.87-2.0 pop times. 5-for-14 at Tournament of Stars.
