PROCASE

6-foot-5, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. The first time I saw Theo was at a small workout in Vermont. The development since then, is remarkable. The arm is extremely quick and works out of a lower than ¾ slot.  The feet have a tick of crossfire to them and the repeats and easy and athletic delivery. The frame projects to add weight and fill out, the sky is the limit. The fastball has bore and sink, sat at 87-89 mph. The spin pitch is a slider, sat at 75-76 mph, nice shape to it. The changeup is in play, has turnover and sink to it, sits in the mid 70’s. Excellent looking prospect who hasn’t pitched a ton of innings. Should be an interesting follow for pro scouts in the next few years.

8/4/16
On the mound, drawing a ton of attention, as he stands 6-foot-4, 155-pounds. The frame is rail thin and the body will get some weight on it as it grows. The arm is free on the backside and quick out front, ¾ slot. You can really project him on the mound, as it’s easy for him. The fastball has good life and run to it, sitting 84-86, touching 87 mph. The spin pitch is a short slider and was just ok in Indianapolis. I’ve seen it better but it was 68 mph on Friday. Showed the makings of a good changeups in warm-ups. Positionally, ran a 6.95 on the laser in his 60. In the infield, showed solid hands and the ability to throw. The pivot work needs some coaching as do the prep steps, helping him get through the ball properly. The arm has plenty to it, throwing 82 mph across the diamond with easy effort. Offensively, tee exit velocity of 91 mph. The backside has a little collapse to it but the hands work freely. The path needs to flatten for plate coverage, which should be a simple fix for him. Swung the bat better late on Friday and on Saturday. Very interesting guy to follow and recruit as he continues to grow and get better. I love the potential on the mound.

10/18/15
On the mound, shows an athletic delivery with a simple and short arm path. The ball comes out of his hand extremely well. He is rail thin at this point of his development and should gain weight as he matures. The slider is short with the right spin and shows a feel for the minus pitch. As you can tell, I really like him on the mound. I think he is a high level pitcher. As a positional player, shows a solid glove at shortstop and the ability to make all the throws with carry. The prep steps and ability to work through the ball need to be coached up but its in there. At the plate, he hits from the left-side and the hands works.Tends to get out in his swing, would like to see him stay in his legs more and get behind the ball. Singled to left in the game.

7/28/15
A left-handed hitting SS, hits from and even stance, the path is good, has very smooth swing, needs to finish more. The tee exit was 79 and when he ran from home to first he was 4.48. The flow from SS, is very good, catches and throws all in one motion, no wasted steps. The arm is above average with very good flight and carry to it, the velocity was 78. Off the mound the arm action is clean, free and easy. The motion is simple with an easy leg raise and is in line for the most part. The fastball was 81-83, with serious arm side sink and run. Curveball had some slurve action to it, it's a nasty pitch, was thrown hard at 71-74. Did not show much of a changeup, probably doesn't need it, but with the clean arm will be able to develop one. Strength is a must, projects out more off the mound for me, but should be able to handle being a 2-way guy for an extended period of time.
