8/23/18

5-foot-11, 180-pound, average, solid strong athletic frame. Shows to have strength throughout, a well proportioned athlete. A right-handed hitter, feet are set even, just slightly wider than shoulder width. The hands are loose at the shoulders, for timing uses a knee to knee leg kick. The lower half is under control, gains ground with stride foot. The swing is level to up, creates backspin to the baseball, drove ball to the gaps. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 81 mph and ran a 7.86 on a low track. In game play had a hard it ball, stayed on the curveball well. Defensively, had a pop time of 2.07-2.18 and the arm was clocked at 67 mph. The arm works from a higher slot, arm action has average length for a catcher. The hands have softened on the catch, gets around the baseball well. The footwork is clean and  easy in the transfer, right foot replaces left foot. Played first base during game play, clean feet around the bag, soft hands on the catch. Potential to be able to do a couple of things.

Sixty-Yard Dash: 7.86

Exit Velocity: 81 MPH

Arm Velocity: 67 MPH

7/18/17

5-foot-11, 170 pounds, projectable build, room for strength gains without sacrificing present athleticism.Throws from a high slot, is balanced behind the plate, with soft hands and some quickness. The straight line foot speed is not elite but is serviceable, but he makes up for it by moving well laterally and some quick twitch behind the plate. Pop times ranged between 2.10-2.15 but accuracy is a strength, putting multiple throws on the bag. Developing arm strength will help his defensive game play up. At the plate, Lappe is a line drive hitter with even hands and even feet. There should be more power on the way, with the ability to hit gap-to-gap. In game performance was good, collecting a single and making hard contact in other at bats. Could be a sleeper if he puts it all together.

Home-First: 4.60

Exit Velocity: 82 MPH

Arm Velocity: 69 MPH

2/25/17

5-foot-11, 170-pound, average athletic frame, the neck is long, shoulders are squared off, hands and wrists are thick with strength to them. A right-handed hitting catcher, stance is very simple, feet are inline, slightly wider than shoulder width, hands are loose at shoulder height. For timing uses a no stride approach, has a very small buckle of front foot and knee. The hands get back, bat gets tilted, gets to a good loaded position. The swing path is level across the chest, stays through it and finishes with one hand above the shoulder. The approach is more middle to pull, squared balls up in batting practice. Behind the plate, setup is balanced, feet are inline, is low to the ground, glove hand could be more relaxed, will help with the pitch that has movement of solid break to it. The feet are quick in transfer, one step approach, gets back to even and closes down the front side. The arm action is short, clean and comes out of a ¾ slot, arm was clocked at 65 mph from the chute, with proper flight to the baseball. Continues to get better, had a solid showing.

Sixty-Yard Dash: 7.44

Exit Velocity: 71 mph

Arm Velocity: 65 mph

7/27/16
5-foot-10, 158-pound, average athletic frame, with plenty of room for future development. The neck is long and shoulders are sloped. A right-handed hitter, who is slightly closed off, the hands are loose, set at shoulder height, with the bat flat on the back shoulder. The path is flat, with a one handed finish. The hands could get to the ball a bit more direct, drop so slightly, this should improve with strength. The tee exit velocity was 76 mph, ran good at 4.43. Defensively, has a balanced setup, feet are shoulder width apart, looks comfortable. The feet and hands work well, gets inline and closes the front side. The arm action is short, clocked at 64 mph, could finish it more. On the mound this right-handed pitcher, works from a high-¾ slot. The delivery is simple, has a controlled leg raise, the direction is good when front foot strikes. The front side glove could be stronger, needs to finish off all pitches more, has some recoil to it. The fastball was 65-69 mph, has some cut to it. The breaking ball was clocked at 62-63 mph and the changeup was at 61-62 mph. Times to plate were 1.19, worked quick had a good tempo. A long tossing program and arm strength is key.

3/2/16

5-foot-10, 155-pound thin projectable athletic body frame. A right-handed hitting catcher/right-handed pitcher, at the plate the stance is even, balanced and very quiet. The hands are set on the back shoulder and he raises them to get hands back to hit, uses a very small bent knee for timing, not stride approach. The swing is level to up and finishes with one hand. The tee exit velocity was 73 mph, he showed more of a pull approach. The hands worked freely through the zone. Behind the plate, the setup was balanced, hands are soft, receives deep, but needs to get it out front slightly more. The transfer was clean, needs to pick tempo up and close front side slightly more. The footwork was good, right foot, replaced left foot. Clocked at 68 mph from the crouch, but needs to finish off the throws. On the mound, this right-hander has a simple and repeatable delivery. The hands are set at the chest with a controlled leg kick. The separation is clean, arm action is short and clean on the backside. The lead arm is strong, the stride could be longer, cuts off pitches on release, but a longer stride may help staying through release point. Fastball was 70-72 mph. The breaking ball had slurve break to it was clocked at 58-62 and showed some feel and pitchability with changeup at 60-62 mph.
