01/21/17- Candelaria is an athletic outfielder with a strong throwing arm. Standing 6-foot-1, 178-pounds, Candelaria’s athleticism stood out during the day as he showcased his speed with a 6.95 60-yard dash on a slow track, and unleashed strong throws, with carry, from the outfield (88 mph). At the plate, Candelaria’s swing does not jump out right away with a choppy load and leg kick, but he showed off some power and the ability to backspin the ball with multiple home runs in batting practice at PBR Florida’s Preseason All State event. Candelaria’s swing path is uphill, and he does a nice job of getting the barrel to the ball. Candelaria’s swing is only going to get better, and with his athleticism and strong arm, plus a high SAT score and near 4.0 GPA, Candelaria will be a nice addition to a team, especially if it is at a highly academic school.
