4.29.15 - Committed to play football at Ferris State, but has the baseball ability to be a Division 1 player, without question. Currently ranked No. 83 in Illinois’ 2015 class; 5-foot-7, 155-pound second baseman who features game-changing speed and premium athletic ability.  Against one of the top defensive catchers in the state, Earls swiped four bases. Twice he stole second and third, and each time he forced an error and scored on the throw. Fearlessly runs the bases, takes aggressive leads to challenge pitchers. In game, continuously dared two different left-handeders to throw over; disruptive force on bases. Scored four runs in four plate appearances. At the PBR Top Prospect Showcase last summer, he ran a 6.74 60, but his time doesn’t do his game-speed justice. Defensively, is a premium defender who has superior range, hands and overall defensive actions. Has plenty of arm, too (85 across infield at Top Prospect Showcase). Offensively, is a switch-hitter, but hit exclusively from right side due to two left-handed pitchers. Simple balanced approach, quiet mechanics, short and explosive path to the baseball. Went 1-for-1 with a sharp single to left field, a walk and twice was hit by pitch. Overall, I hear he’s an excellent running back in football and racked up big numbers. On the baseball field, however, I would imagine he could be plugged into any lineup and make an immediate impact at most levels.

2.27.15 - committed to Ferris State on a football scholarship.
6/19/14 - Smaller frame 5-foot-7, 154-pound switch hitting middle infielder, quick twitch athletic build. Showed advanced foot speed, 6.74 runner, quick lateral footwork. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short stride and maintains balance from both sides of the plate. Contact hitter, path stays on top of the baseball, spray hitter from both sides, showed the ability to repeat an athletic swing from both sides of the plate. Defensively showed well above average actions, highly athletic, played well on the move, plays through the baseball, quick footwork and exchange. Arm plays well from the left side, showed carry, short high ¾ slot, athletic arm action, can throw on the run, 85 mph across the diamond.

5/21/13 - Didn’t play in the game, but he took an extremely impressive pregame. Definitely a player to watch in the future. He’s only 5-foot-6, but his defensive actions were as quick as anyone on the field. He also showed plenty of arm and has run a 6.6 60 in the offseason.

Earls is 5-foot, 125-pound middle infielder who showed athleticism and natural feel at the middle infield position. With good lateral movement and solid hands Earls was able to demonstrate his ability to play through the ball. At the plate Earls is a switch-hitter. Additionally Earls ran a 7.27 60.
