3.14.18 - 6-foot, 156-pound, athletically built, live-bodied, left-handed pitcher. Came out of the bullpen and worked one-inning of hitless baseball, striking out two. Delivery works on-line, front foot lands closed at times. Clean, quick arm stroke out of a high ¾ slot. Flashed a swing and miss curveball, good feel, mostly 1/7 shape at 72-74 mph. One of his strikeouts came on a backfoot, sharp sweeping curveball to a right-handed hitter. Fastball jumps out of the hand, flashed arm-side-run at times, 85-87 mph.

10.9.17 - Committed to Lincoln Land CC, currently ranked No. 60 in Illinois’ Class of 2018. 6-foot, 156-pound, athletically-built left-handed pitcher. Frame has room for additional strength. On the mound, long, loose arm action, high ¾ slot, quick arm speed, gets in a strong position at balance point, drop and drive delivery. Smooth rhythm, works on-line, lands toe-closed, finishes athletically. Two-pitch mix: fastball and curveball. Fastball, flashed run at times, commanded, 86-88 mph. Curveball, 1/7 shape, sharp break, fastball arm speed, commanded, 68-71 mph.

2.19.17 - 6-foot, 156-pound, lean, wiry two-way prospect. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, stays on-line, lands slightly closed. Arm works long and out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 81-83 mph, touched 84. Curveball, thrown near fastball arm speed, 1/7 shape, 66-70 mph. Changeup, 74-78 mph. Offensively, left-handed hitter, tall, open setup, hip-turn, coiled load and short leg-lift timing trigger. Pull approach and maintains balance through contact. 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, showed off a big arm that carries at 90 mph from the outfield.  Fluid feet, plays with bounce, plays through the baseball, athletic crow hop and clean exchange. Long arm action and out of a high ¾ slot.

10.10.16 - 5-foot-11, 152-pound, wiry, two-way prospect. Ran a 7.19 laser-timed 60. Offensively, present bat speed and quick twitch in swing. Stays on top of the baseball, uses the middle of the field, line-drive approach and hard contact; 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Balanced open setup, short stride and fluid rhythm. Defensively, live arm from the outfield, carry and life to throws; clocked at 87 mph. Athletic actions, aggressive crow hop and quick, fluid footwork. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, three-pitch feel repertoire. Short, quick, loose and live arm action from a high ¾ slot. Delivery works with rhythm, stays on-line, lands square with regular effort throughout. Fastball, thrown for strikes, arm-side-run, sat 80-82 mph, touched 83. Curveball, tight sharp spin and depth, 1/7 shape, located down and sat 64-67 mph. Changeup, maintains fastball arm speed, fade action, 70-72 mph.

7.30.16 - Wiry, left-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively, loose, whippy hands, creates bat speed and leverage in swing. Aggressive approach, not afraid to jump on the first pitch. Made consistent, hard contact; finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Defensively, glides in the outfield, gets good jumps and athletic actions. Also, a talented left-handed pitcher but did not throw in the game. 2018 two-way follow.

1.17.16 - 5-foot-11, 155-pound, left-handed hitting OF/LHP. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws with carry. Threw 79 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with quick, fluid footwork. Offensively hits from a tall, balanced setup with a high hand set and short stride. Gap to gap hitter with a short swing path. 73 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.34. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed foot landing. Some rhythm with an athletic finish. Threw fastball for strikes at 78-81 mph. Curveball showed 1-7 shape at 63-65 mph. Maintained armspeed on changeup for strikes at 68-71 mph.

10.4.15 - 5-foot-10, 148-pound left-handed two-way player, lanky projectable frame with upside. Currently projects best on the mound. Tall and fall delivery, works on line with good direction, maintains balance through delivery. High ¾ arm slot, flashed arm speed. Fastball sits 78-80 mph, touched 81, pitched with arm side action and showed the ability to control the bottom of the zone. Curveball flashed 12/6 action, more 1/7, 65-68 mph. Struck out two swinging in one inning pitched. Showed arm strength in the outfield that should project to the mound, arm played at 85 mph from the crowhop. Standard outfield actions, played through the baseball athletically, ability to properly read baseballs in flight, 4.43 runner down the line. Left-handed hitter, balanced stance, tall setup, smooth loading action, short stride. Good barrel control, flashed quick twitch, 78 mph exit velocity from the tee.

7.20.15 - Athletic 5-foot-10, 148-pound left-handed hitting outfielder and left-handed pitcher. Offensively, has rhythm throughout contact, maintaining good balance. Flashed loose, quick hands. Smooth load, and looks to pull. Uphill swing path and registered an exit velocity of 76 mph. Defensively, Mattera showcased an athletic crow hop and quick, short arm action. High ¾ arm slot, and plays through the baseball while fielding. Clocked at 80 mph from the outfield. On the mound the undersized lefty operates from across his body, short arm action and regular effort in his delivery. His fastball ranged between 74-78 mph. Inconsistent action, cutting and running at times. Threw a curveball at 62-65 mph with 1/7 shape with some depth. Change-up was 70 mph, near fastball arm speed and for strikes.

2.16.15 - 5-foot-10, 148-pound, left-handed hitting OF/LHP. Lanky, athletic frame. In the field has a long, loose arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with online actions. Threw 82 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a tall balanced setup with a short heel-lift stride. Line drive gap-to-gap hitter with a solid, uphill swing path. 78 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.52. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm slot with a long arm action. Regular effort with a tilt and topple delivery, and flashed a quick arm. High hands throughout, uphill shoulders, and spins off to 1st base side. Fastball showed occasional cut and sat 77-80 mph. Curveball with 2-8 shape that sat 58-59 mph. Changeup with cutting action sat 62-64 mph. Will continue to improve with maturity.

9.13.14 - 5-foot-4, 135-pound small framed, left-handed hitting outfielder/left-handed pitcher hits from a balanced, narrow setup, hands held high, short toe-tap stride, creating slightly uphill bat path with fluid rhythm and 75 mph exit velocity. Defensively, threw 78 mph from the outfield from long, high ¾ arm action. Plays through the ball with quick feet, clean exchanges, arm works athletically, well above average arm strength for a 2018. Ran an 8.18 60, 4.68 from home to first. On the mound fastball sat 75-77 mph with run, though missing consistently high and to his arm side. Works from a high ¾ long, loose, arm slot, drop and drive type delivery, shoulders tilt uphill, stride direction stays in line with home plate, lands slightly closed at foot strike. Slurvy breaking ball with 11/5 shape sat 62-63 mph. Changeup was thrown for strikes at 67-70 mph with cutting action.

3.9.14 - 5-foot-7, 125-pound two way player. On the mound he works with a longer arm action from a high ¾ slot, delivery has a tendency to work on an open path. Fastball has finish , sat 72-74 mph, showed feel for the zone, with late action for his age. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape, 54-56 mph. Changeup sits 59-60 mph, slower arm action. Offensively hits from the left side, balanced stance, slight leg lift trigger, good balance through contact. Regularly barreled the baseball, hard consistent contact, hits with good rhythm, pull side approach. 72 mph exit velocity. Defensively played the outfield with above average actions, used a crowhop through the baseball, played in stride. 7.94 runner in the 60.
