3/16/19

Creighton commit, 6-foot-3, 215-pound right-handed pitcher, build looks lean. Slight drop and drive type delivery, looked comfortable and easy, controlled the pace of play and commands the mound. Strong arm, ¾ slot. Showed starter capabilities at the next level, feel for three pitches with lower effort. Fastball sat 88-89 mph touched 90 mph in the first, held 86-88 mph throughout, runs hard to arm side. Slider is plus, swing and miss action, 10/4 shape, 74-77 mph. Struck out eight in five innings, five on sliders, three of them swinging, no walks.

7/10/18 - Creighton University commit. 6-foot-3, 215-pound, durable lower half, wide-shouldered, physical, right-handed pitcher. One of the hardest throwing right-handers in the Midwest, recorded the firmest fastball of the day at 93 mph. Holderfield struck out two in his one inning of work. Profiles as a late/inning reliever with an advanced fastball/slider combination. Side rocker-step wind up, drop and drive delivery with rhythm and effort throughout. Loose, quick, clean arm action out of a ¾ slot. Fastball, jumps out of the hand, heavy, bowling ball type when down in the zone, sat 90-91 mph, touched 93. Slider, out-pitch, thrown with aggression, flashed 10/4, power action, 78 mph.

4.21.18 - Creighton commit, currently ranked No. 11 in the Illinois’ 2019 class. Started on the mound for Oak Park-River Forest. Went 6.2 innings, scattered seven hits, three earned runs, struck out six and walked one. Used a fastball/slider combination throughout. Drop and drive delivery, quick arm from a ¾ slot and works with effort. Heavy fastball, creates run and sink. Majority of balls put in play are on the ground. Fastball sat 87-89 mph early on by the sixth inning was more 84-85 mph. Goes to his slider often, flashes swing and miss action, throws it aggressively, sharp, sweeping action, 73-77 mph. Saw one changeup at 81 mph. High-level 2019 arm, may be best suited for the bullpen at the next level but handled himself well throughout his start. Works well out of the stretch, understands how to hold the running game.

3.29.18 - Creighton commit, currently ranked No. 11 in Illinois’ Class of 2019. 6-foot-3, 215-pound, right-handed pitcher, durable, thick, physical build, strong upper and lower half. Operated as the closer against Nazareth, entering in the seventh inning leading by two runs. In true closer fashion, took the mound with no sleeves under his jersey on a day when the wind chill dipped to near freezing. Struck out the first two batters on 90 and 89 mph fastballs, respectively, before getting the final batter to fly out. Major presence on the mound, competitive and confident. Works from a ¾ slot with a short, loose arm action. Fastball, heavy life, running in to righties and painting the outside corner to lefties, sat 88-90. Threw one slider at 80 mph, hard and sharp action. Continuing to trend up, potentially entering 2019 draft discussions.

2.11.18 - Creighton commit. 6-foot-3, 215-pound right-handed pitcher, thick physical build, strong lower half.
