2.16.14 6-foot-4, 230-pound right handed pitcher, large body, strong lower half. Delivery has some rhythm, regular effort and clean lines. Arm works clean and long, from a high ¾ slot. One of the strongest arms at the event. Fastball is mostly straight, sitting 87-89 mph with some finish, occasional heavy feel. Throws a slider with 10/4 shape and late action, 79-81 mph. Straight changeup at 75-80 mph. Also displayed a splitter at 72-76 mph with flashes of quality action.

5/11/13 - Kogut is the No. 12 ranked player in the Class of 2015. Big bodied right-handed pither, 6-foot-5, 245-pounds, strong pitcher’s build. Pitched exclusively from the stretch, showed a balanced delivery with a slower tempo than we’ve seen before. Arm action was long from a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat at 81-83 mph (we’ve previously seen Kogut up to 87 mph), shows finish through the zone. Curveball works on an 11/5 plane, 70-71 mph, showed occasional depth.  Kogut is one of the top arms in the Class of 2015, his size and arm strength he has shown separates him from the class. Kogut will be representing Illinois in the Midwest Future Games in August. 3 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 SO
1/20/13 - One of the most promising right-handed prospects in Illinois’ loaded 2015 class. Big-bodied 6-foot-4, 230-pound frame; has baby-face with plenty of room to mature. Works downhill well, stays tall on backside. Over-the-top arm slot; fastball topped at 87 mph with late, heavy life, especially when gets extension. Smooth in-line delivery with long, loose arm action. Ball comes out of hand easily. Changeup shows promise of being out-pitch as well. Throws changeup for strikes, in 79-80 mph range, with heavy sink. 71-73 mph curveball lacks depth.
9/25/12 - Mike Kogut is a big bodied right-handed pitcher standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 220-pounds. Kogut controls his body well for his size. He showed good balance throughout his delivery resulting in a good command of the strike zone. He uses a long arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot consistently delivering the ball on a downhill plane. Kogut does a good job of staying tall and using his size to his advantage. His fastball sat comfortably between 80-83 mph with regular effort, he showed good command of the pitch with some life. Kogut's curveball is a pitch that has potential, throwing on a good downhill plane, as release point consistency continues to improve, this could become a good pitch for him. He showed good command of a change-up (71-74 mph) that will continue to improve with added arm speed.
