5/17/21

Indiana commit, ranked No. 30 in the Illinois’ 2021 class. 6-foot-3, 180-pound, large-bodied, strong, wide-shouldered, left/left two-way prospect. Started at first base, hit in the four-hole and later came on to pitch in relief. Continues to make a case that he has two-way potential at the next level. Left-handed bat shows a feel to hit along with some of the easiest raw power in the state. Launched a home run to center field in his first at-bat that was ruled a ground-rule double in his first at-bat due to confusion by the umpires and the lack of an outfield wind screen. Followed up with another home run, this one just right of center field. Also, smoked a line-drive back up the middle in his last at-bat. Extremely calm, quiet and comfortable in the box. Quiet easy takes, lets the ball travel and lets his hands work. Loose, athletic, easy swing, creates whip in the barrel and ball jumps off the bat. Also, impressed with his performance out of the bullpen. Loose, free-flowing arm action, ¾ slot and featured a low-spinning fastball that touched 87 mph, sitting around 85. Gets hard run-and-sink to his fastball, works the lower quadrant of the zone and mixed in a sweeping breaking ball with feel at 65-67 mph (2492 rpm). High-level prospect in the 2021 class.

7/24/20

Indiana commit. 6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher, projectable frame. Easy tall and fall delivery, arm works with low effort out of high ¾ slot, long arm action, jumps out of the hand at times. Fastball played 84-86 mph, arm side run with sink, well above average feel for the strike zone, potential to command both sides of the plate. Curveball has 1/7 shape, 70-72 mph with feel. Changeup played at 78 mph with fading action, deceptive arm speed.

5/13/19

Indiana commit, currently ranked No. 11 in the Illinois’ 2021 class. 6-foot-3, 180-pound, extra-large, long loose-bodied, left-handed pitcher. Started on the mound and hit in the three-hole. On the mound, deliberate delivery, works with rhythm, lands front-toe slightly open and will spin off on finish. Arm works long, loose and easy from a ¾ slot. Fastball, easy out of the hand, arm-side-run action, around the zone, sat 80-83 mph throughout. Looks to have plenty more in the tank. Went to his curveball as his go-to secondary offering. Varied in shape at times, but worked mostly 2/8, sweeping shape, slurvy action at times, occasionally back-footed right-handed hitters, 66-69 mph. At the plate, left-handed hitter, open setup, loose, strong hands and natural uphill path. Finished 1-for-3 with a go-ahead, RBI single to center field.

8.23.18 - Verbally committed to Indiana.

6.6.18 - 6-foot-3, 180-pound, left-handed hitting two-way player, tall, athletic, projectable frame. At the plate, tall, open setup, smooth back load, short stride, maintains balance. Loose hands, uphill bat path with extension, creates lift through swing, gap to gap approach, easy, fluid rhythm throughout. Fast bat speed, exit velocity topped 90 mph from a tee. Defensively, plays through athletically, clean actions, agile footwork, soft hands, long, loose arm, ¾ slot, throws carried 76 mph across. 7.80 runner in the 60. On the mound, short side step windup, toe lift, high knee balance point, works in line, high front side with hip lead, open toe landing, super athletic finish out front, rhythm involved. Short, loose arm swing, hides ball well on back side, quick arm speed, high ¾ slot, easy effort throughout. Polished three pitch mix with feel for the zone. Fastball comes out easy with late run, 81-83 mph. Curveball, gradual 2/8 break, flashed depth 64-68 mph. Changeup maintained fastball arm speed, faded hard off the table, 73-75 mph.

6.7.17 - 6-foot-2, 165-pound left-handed hitting LHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with easy effort. Smooth delivery working in line with home plate. Repeats well with good balance. Fastball has slight running action at 77-78 mph for strikes. Curveball has 11-5 shape with sharp breaking action at 64-67 mph for strikes. Changeup has sinking action at 71-73 mph. High level arm to follow moving forward. At the plate this from a balanced setup with a short stride and good balance. Short, uphill swing path with fluid rhythm. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 8.11. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and soft hands. Accurate throws from the outfield at 73 mph.

5.5.17 - Tall, projectable left-handed pitcher with high upside. Smooth rhythm, on-line direction. Quick, loose arm action from a high ¾ angle. Fastball, heavy action, thrown for strikes, sat 77-79 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 67 mph. Offensively, left-handed hitter, slightly open setup. Above average bat speed, path works uphill.
