Super 60 2017 - Illinois-Chicago recruit. Athletically built 6-foot-3, 186-pound left-handed hitter. Showed improved strength and athleticism. Ran a 6.79 laser-timed 60. Versatile defender at first base and outfield. Highly athletic hands and feet at first base. Was clocked at 85 mph across the infield and 83 from the outfield. Also registered 90 mph exit velocity.

8.21.16 - University of Illinois-Chicago commit. 6-foot-3, 190-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively hits from a squared setup, slightly wider, no stride approach, heel lift load. Loose hands, level path with extension, line drive type hitter. Showed bat speed, 87 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action is long and over the top, played at 83 mph from the outfield. Plays through the baseball, smooth actions, 7.02 runner.
Future Games 2015 - Projectable, athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound left-handed hitting first basemen showed impressive speed for a first-basemen, running a 6.77 60 yard dash. Offensively, the left-handed hitter starts from a wide, slightly open set up. Deep load with no stride. Compact, short, level stroke. Used the whole field in batting practice, shooting balls to left and left-center field. In game one and two of the Future Games Farrell went a combined 2-5 with a walk, run scored, RBI, and a stolen base. Exit velocity was 85 mph off of a tee. Defensively, showed feel around the first-base bag. Throws from a ¾ slot, quick release and was clocked at 78 mph across the infield. Also, worked out as an outfielder. Quick, clean release, 80 mph from the outfield.

4.27.15 - 6-foot-2, 170-pound lanky and athletic left-handed hitting 1B, impressed at the plate and defensively for the Vikings, ranked No. 40 in IL’s 2017 class. Farrell is hitting over .450 this spring from the leadoff spot, and impressed with three line drive singles in four plate appearances. He also barreled a baseball hard in his first at bat on a groudout up the middle, getting down the line in 4.29 seconds. Hits from a square, spread out stance, little to no stride, high back elbow, hands held around his head in setup, little hand movement to load, short path, up the middle/opposite field approach in this game. Two hits were line drives in left center gap, first hit was a line drive right back up the middle. Defensively, made a nice diving play down the line to his backhand, also chested up a tough hop. Premium athlete at first base, with the chance to be a well above average defender there. Speed, arm strength (up to 82 mph on the mound), and leadoff hitter profile could make him an outfielder at the next level as well. High follow prospect in the 2017 class.

1.18.15 - 6-foot-2, 175-pound lanky and athletic left-handed hitting OF/1B hits from a crouched, open setup, hands load back smoothly, good rhythm in loading body backwards, minimal stride, left-centerfield approach during batting practice, 84 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, threw 80 mph from the outfield from long, high ¾ arm slot with accuracy, soft hands fielding the baseball, quick, fluid footwork. At first base, shows soft hands fielding ground balls, long arm action turning the double play, feet work well around the bag. Farrell’s athleticism fits more in the outfield, but lefty/lefty first baseman are not easy to find either. Ran a 7.19 60, high follow prospect in the 2017 class.
10.26.14 - 6-foot-2, 170-pound lanky and athletic left-handed hitting first baseman/left-handed pitcher hits from a spread out, open stance, hands load back smoothly, starts with a high back elbow, explosive bat speed, short path, fluid rhythm, hit several line drives from gap-to-gap, power to pull side, loud on contact, 87 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, impresses at first base with athleticism and range. 7.06 60 runner so could athleticism fits in the outfield as well. Threw 78 mph across the diamond from long, loose, high ¾ arm slot, showed soft hands fielding, fluid footwork, plays through the baseball. On the mound, sat 79-82 mph with sink from same arm slot, works exclusively from the stretch, toe down at balance point, shoulders stay level in delivery, lower half stays in line with lower half, lands square, athletic finish. 68-69 mph sluvy breaking ball had late action, gets on the side of it at times missing arm side, but potential to be above average. 71-73 mph changeup flashed arm side run. Farrell is a high follow prospect over the next few years in the class of 2017.
