2/18/13 Walks in the door and passes the eye test. The 6-foot-3, 185 pound lefty. Throws from a high elbow slot causing the arm to look quick and add deception. Smith worked out of the windup and stretch and showed good tempo out of both. Smith throws consistent strikes with all three pitches. If the velocity jump comes, Smith will be one to keep an eye out for. 

2-8-13 Ian Smith is a left handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. Smith works at a quick temo, with some choppiness in his delivery, arm action is a high ¾. Fastball showcased at 71-74 with slight run. Breaking ball shaped as a 1-9 gradual breaking ball. 

10/21/12 - Smith is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-hander who works out of a high 3/4 slot with a long arm action. His fastball topped at 74 mph, while his curveball checked in at 58-59 mph. He also threw a 63-66 mph changeup.
