6/25/14: 6 foot-1 inch/197 pounds, 2.06-2.16 pop time. Athletic player that works hard behind the plate and plays with passion. Short, quick arm and throws (79mph) are on target with carry. Soft hands with a good feet and a quick exchange. Aggressive hitter with a long stride, average bat speed on a level plain through the zone. Line drive hitter .

2/22/14:
6-foot-1, 187 possesses a strong frame.  Behind the plate was 2.00-2.12 with his pop times at the event.  Shows a good setup.  Mechanically needs to clean up his exchange.  Above average receiver.  Possesses good arm strength at 78 from the crouch.  At the plate starts open with a short stride.  Possesses good balance throughout. Has above average hand speed.  Swing plane is uphill.  Showcased power potential.  Registered an exit velo of 84 mph.  Finishes one handed.

2/23/13
6- foot-1, 155 pound catcher has a body for a catcher.Shows a good receiving base. Vernon throws with good downward projection. Raw footwork and exchange however. Earlier this winter had him at 2.02. Hitsfrom a wide base with power potential. Hands load circular with good rhythm.

1/23/13
6- foot-1, 155 pound catcher with all of the physical makeup to be a plus catcher.  He has a firm front side behind the plate and throws a straight ball from an over the top arm action. His best pop time at the event was a 2.03. He is still too tall from the squat, and mechanically needs to be cleaned up. At the plate Vernon hits from a crouch with a wide base.  His hands are quick, and shows potential power. Vernon will have to continue to grow as a receiver to become an elite catcher.
Vernon has good size for a freshman at 6’, 175 pounds.  At the plate he has good line drive swing. As he gets older he should develop some pretty good pop at the plate.
