6/25/14: 6 foot – 3 inches/ 165 pounds, 4.75-H-1^st, Plus actions at SS, short, quick arm action, 83 mph across the infield with carry and on target. Soft hands with quick feet and a clean ball exchange.  Hits from a balanced stance with a long smooth stride, ball explodes off the bat with good extension, pull /power type hitter. Nice player with a huge upside.

2/22/14: 6-foot-2, 165 pound sophomore possesses long limbs with a lanky, athletic frame.  In the field throws from a long arm action with good arm speed (84 mph).  Hands are above average.  Overall actions are above average but needs to improve his footwork as he tends to get flat at times.  Offensively hits from a balanced setup.  Load is smooth and uses a long stride.  Possesses plus bat speed.  Gets to extension with a slightly uphill swing plane.  Ran a 7.21 60 at the event.

2013 Top Propsect Games: Hoese is one of the top middle infielders in the 2016 class. At the plate, it is a simple approach with an aggressive approach. Hoese has proven on multiple occasions he can handle velocity. In the field, the long limbed infielder shows plus actions with above average arm strength. Hoese is a high follow in the 2016 class.

5/17/19: Long, wiry corner infielder with wide, broad shoulders. Plenty of room to add strength and size to frame. Hits from balanced, stacked setup. Athletic in the box with a nice and easy set up. Smooth load with short, simple stride creating good separation. Aggressive swing. Takes a hack and doesn't get cheated at the plate. Good bat speed with present above average power and more to come as he adds strength. Barrel stays in the zone a long time, creating exceptional extension into high finish. Average defender on the corner, hands and feet work, flashes some range and athleticism. Long, loose arm stroke, throws from different angles with average arm strength across. His ability to hit for both average and power in the future will likely lead to a call on Day One of the draft. Projects as a future everyday ML corner infielder with middle of the order potential. 8/1/18: 6’4/195 pounds with a projectable frame, Hoese has the look and actions of a power hitting third baseman. Athletically built with a wide upper body, the former high school shortstop moves well for his size and his defensive tools should play up more now that he is over at the hot corner. Arm shows good carry on throws across the diamond with quick and compact throwing actions. Hits from a wide base with a slightly open front foot. Loads into his back hip before getting into his forward stride and landing. Hands maintain a strong hitting position and stay back to create separation. The bat speed and lift in his swing should lead to more power as he gets stronger. May be showing signs of tapping into that power potential already; launched seven home runs this summer through 143 at-bats and this past spring at Tulane it took him 223 at-bats to hit five home runs. Had some tough at-bats during the All-Star game but found ways to put the ball in play once he got down in the count. With another year to develop and add size to his frame, Hoese might make a big jump in his production for this 2019 season. (D Jurik)
