2015 Wichita Eagle All-Metro Team
2015 All-AVCTL-I - 1st Team

4/25/15 - Lungwitz is class of 2015 right-handed pitcher. Wichita State commit and 2015 MLB Draft prospect. Ranked No. 2 in the Kansas class of 2015. Attends Maize HS in Maize, KS just outside of Wichita. Big bodied 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-handed pitcher and multi-sport athlete for Maize. Arm works, simple delivery and for the most part repeats mechanics. Fastball 85-87 mph, topped out at 89. Threw seven no-hit innings in a nine-inning extra inning game against Shawnee Mission East, one of the top teams in 6A. Very athletic on the mound and getting off the mound to field his position. Projection.
3/30/15 - Wichita State commit and MLB draft prospect. Strong, athletic 6-foot-5, 220-pound frame. Compact, balanced delivery, three-quarters arm slot, arm works, easy, excellent body control, repeats well. Showed command of 87-90 mph fastball, occasional arm side run. Short  11/5 breaking ball, 73-75 mph. During warm-ups flashed a sinking change-up, 75-77 mph. Quick, athletic footwork on pick-offs to first. Threw four and one-third innings giving up three hits, one run, no walks and eight strikeouts.
5/6/14 - Connor Lungwitz is a 6-foot-5, 205-pound right-handed pitcher for Maize HS that is committed to play baseball Wichita State and is one of the top area prospects for the 2015 MLB Draft.  Lungwitz, who is also Maize’s quarterback in the fall, has a strong, athletic MLB pitcher’s frame already.  On the mound he has a methodical delivery from the wind-up and shows excellent body control throughout.  From the stretch he primarily uses a simple, slide-step knee lift.  He throws from a ¾ arm slot with easy, clean arm action and out-in-front release point on all his pitches.  He worked in the 83-86 mph range with his fastball today, although MLB scouts have reported to us they have seen him in the low 90’s.  He spun an effective 66-69 curveball that at times had a short 11/7 break to it.  In addition, he used a 72-74 change-up that had sinking action away from left-handed hitters.  On the year, Lungwitz is 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 29 innings.
