2/21/15 - Vilott is a 6-foot-2 180-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class from Olathe South HS. Vilott has a simple delivery, stays under control, high-three quarters arm slot, remains tall at balance, fastball velo at 77-79 mph, 1-to-7 shaped breaking pitch, late action, 67-70 mph, change-up at 70-71 mph, down in zone,.
10/19/14 - Vilott is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound left-handed pitcher. Simple and under control early, turns at balance, hides ball, high three-quarters slot, quick arm. Fastball with sink and occasional cutting action in on right-handed hitters, 78-80 mph. Breaking ball with 11/7 shape, 70-71 mph. Showed change-up in warm-ups. Good stuff down in the zone, faced eight batters, five ground balls.
6/18/14 - Vilott is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound left-handed pitcher. He showed excellent early body control in his delivery remaining tall at balance. His delivery has good tempo and he hides the ball well from hitters. Vilott throws with quick, clean three-quarters arm action. His fastball was clocked in the 78-80 mph range showing late life. He also features a 70-72 11/5 breaking ball and 72-73 sinking change-up that he sells with fastball arm speed. He showed a short 77-78 mph cutter type pitch as well. Vilott bumped up his velocity and improved his command since we saw him in January. He’s one of the top left-handed pitching prospects in the area in the 2017 class.
1/4/14 - The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Vilott throws from high ¾ slot with clean arm action and some effort. His motion is efficient as he demonstrated excellent body control throughout his delivery – a rarity for a freshman in high school. His 76-78 mph fastball had late life, at times sinking, at times cutting – when he learns to harness this life in the strike zone it’s going to be problematic for hitters. He also showed a 68-71 sinking change-up. Being a 6-foot-1 left-handed pitcher with a sound delivery once Vilott develops command he will no doubt climb that ladder rapidly.
1/4/14 - Vilott is a rangy, athletic 6-foot-1, 165-pound right-left outfielder. During the outfield drills he showed fluid footwork and clean exchanges with a quick over-the-top throwing motion. He made mostly accurate throws with a top velocity of 80 mph. At the plate he starts with a tall set-up and takes a short, inline stride with no hand load. He has a slightly uphill swing plane working mostly the middle of the field with some juice. He showed good balance throughout. His top exit velocity was clocked at 83 mph.
