6/17/15 - 6-foot-1, 165-pound RHP uses long arm action through a high-3/4 arm slot, minimal effort in delivery, good direction with lower half, fastball sat 81-85 mph touching 86 once, showed a 67-69 mph curveball with sharp 11/5 action when he stays on top of it, walked one and struck out two in his first inning of work, hit two batters, allowed a hit, and struck out one in his second inning. Higgins was just getting back on the mound after an injury kept him out most of the spring. He showed better velocity in February with an 85-87 mph fastball that touched 89.
2/14/15 - 6-foot-1, 165-pound RHP has added 10 pounds to projectable frame since last summer and showed a significant increase in velocity, uses long arm action through a high-3/4 to over the top arm slot, showed a little more effort in delivery than in the past, fastball sat 85-87 mph and touched 89 on one occasion, showed some feel for 69-72 mph curveball, shows confidence in 77-81 mph changeup that displays some arm-side fade and sink, changeup is thrown with good arm action, continues to develop into one of the top arms in the 2016 class in Kentucky.
6/17/14 - 6-foot-1, 155-pound prospect with lanky build and significant room to add to projectable frame, uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot, delivery stays online with easy effort, arm works, fastball sat 79-81 on this occasion (81-83 at previous event), two-seamer shows some arm-side run, showed a sharper curveball than previous event at 66-69 mph that has the makings to be a solid pitch, struck out 4 of the 10 batters he faced allowing just two infield hits, 2016 prospect to watch.
1/19/14 - 6-foot, 155-pound prospect with lanky build, projectable frame, uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot, good rhythm in delivery, easy effort, fastball sat 81-83 mph with some arm-side run on two-seam fastball, curveball shows 11/5 action at 62-64 mph, has a tendency to get around his 73 mph changeup causing some cutting action, secondary pitches will continue to develop, definite 2016 prospect to follow.
