8/20/17

6-foot-1, 183 pounds, average athletic build, sloped shoulders, well proportioned. He has already started his physical development. A deceptive left handed pitcher, he hides the ball well and is difficult to pick up, especially for same handed batters. More of a finesse profile, he gets ample movement from all three offerings in his three pitch mix. McSweeney throws his fastball 75-77 mph. The pitch has the expected lefty movement, with some sink when working down in the zone. The curveball is thrown between 66-67 mph. The pitch gets good break and should continue getting better as McSweeney climbs the development ladder. His changeup may actually be his best pitch. Thrown with the same arm speed and from the same slot as his fastball, the changeup was clocked between 67-69 mph. The pitch has great shape and fading action. Making another velocity jump in the coming high school season will be important, helping to elevate all of his pitches. Overall, McSweeney is an interesting follow and could be an early steal for any teams should he experience a velocity spike.

3/8/2017

6-foot-1, 185-pound left-hander from the New England Storm program. Pitches out of a low ¾ arm slot with deception. The delivery is rotational as he pulls the front side off target and the backside comes at the hitter.  Tough on left-handers as there is a bunch coming at hitter prior to picking up the ball. Fastball touches 77 mph with plenty of arm side action to the pitch. The spin pitch is deceptive, 67 mph. The changeup is a good one, sink and fade to it. The pitch sits at 69 mph. Look forward to seeing him pitch versus a hitter.

9/25/16
Left-handed pitcher, stands 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. The arm works out of a ¾ arm slot and the path is short on the back side of the arm swing. The post foot is angled against the rubber, making the post foot balanced is imperative. The frame works and the arm is free, does tend to throw the bottom half of the ball, causing an uphill plane. The finish after the release needs to improve to help deceleration. The fastball touched 71-72 mph with arm-side run to it. The breaking ball is soft, sitting 58-60 mph. The changeup is a work in progress, sitting 60-62 mph.
