6 foot, 175 pounds, lean and athletic with sloped shoulders, already adding muscle to the frame. Solid runner, posting a 4.50 home-to-first time. At the plate, Lucey is even in the box with feet that set shoulder width apart. He is balanced and controlled in his swing, finishing with two hands. The bat path is level, a short, line drive oriented swing. His hands are strong and loose, starting up by the shoulders. Posted a tee exit velocity of 86 mph. There is present power to the gaps that could develop into more. Lucey collected two doubles and stole a base during gameplay. Defensively, Lucey is an impressive athlete. There is obvious flow to his actions in the field. His double play turns were quick and fluid. He has the glove and talent to stick at shortstop moving forward. His throws across the diamond to first base were clocked up to 72 mph. Adding some more velocity could help silence any questions about whether there is enough arm to play shortstop at the next level. Overall, Lucey should be able to find a home to play collegiate baseball in 2018. Teams looking for middle infield help should be keeping tabs on him this offseason.
