6.27.2017

Physical 6-foot-1, 210-pound right-handed hitting catcher and first baseman. The bat stands out as he has improved and simplified his swing. Tee exit velocity of 96 mph. Sets up with his feet spread out, hands high. The knee to knee timing mechanism is used the ball approaches. The path is long and flat to the ball. Behind the dish, threw 73 mph down to second base. Pop time of 2.03-2.09 as the footwork and release need to improve. The receiving must soften and working on securing the catch is important. Ran a 5.0 down the line on his dig to first base. Can swing the bat, worth seeing hit.

2/18/17

6-foot-1, 210 pounds, big, wide, strong physical framed catcher. The hands have serious strength in them, body and frame have become more flexible and sharp since last work out. A right-handed hitter, he uses the entire body to hit the baseball, the stance is balanced throughout, feet are wider than shoulder width and slightly open. The hands are loose and relaxed and bat starts flat on the back shoulder. Swing path is level to up, the hands work freely through the zone, the barrel has whip and life to it, he stays through the baseball, rolls his hands late and finishes high. The approach is more to the pull side and he shows to have above average power. Defensively, set up is balanced, sits on the flats of his feet, the receiving part has gotten better, hands have softened. The footwork is simple during the transfer, he gains ground and gets the glove to throwing hand. Arm action is short, comes out of a higher slot, clocked at 74 mph with a pop time of 2.19. Works extremely hard at his craft, projects as a right-handed hitting catcher with above average power.

8/4/16
Big bodied right-handed hitting catcher, the frame being 6-foot-1, 210-pounds.  At the plate, showed clean hands, the path is long and will need to be shortened as he matures. There is good strength in the hands and he can handle the bat. Tee exit velocity of 92 mph and should improve with weight room work and baseball specific training. Put together good at bats during the games and battled. Lashed a ball in the third game to left field. Ran a 8.14 as that will have to improve, probably not going to be a runner but that time can improve with work. Defensively, has arm strength, threw 75 mph from behind the dish. Pop time of 2.09 and can improve with better footwork and body flexibility. The receiving needs softening as he needs to get on a pitching machine and work on securing the catch. Does a very good job blocking the baseball, and showed that in the game. Good follow.

3/12/16
Physical right-handed hitting catcher who rolls the pole and shows plus arm strength. Threw 71 mph from behind the dish with minimal effort and had a pop time of 2.1. The transfer and foot work is clean and should improve as he ages. The receiving is fine, reps on the machine will help soften it up. Moves very well for a big guy. The bat has thunder to it, tee exit velocity of 88 mph. The setup is even with a nice calm hands. Gets separation and shows a flat swing with plus power potential. He lets the ball travel and leans on it. Big time prospect.
