PBR Mid-Atlantic ProCase 2/10/18

Pelli continues to show why has been considered one of the top arms in the state since his sophomore campaign. His live arm throws a heavy fastball and his secondary both have swing and miss potential down the road. This day Pelli sat 89-90 during his pen with his quick and compact delivery with an explosive backside through finish. The breaking ball was a hard pitch with late break at 80 mph, and the change up shows split action on the pitch up to 82.

Throwing out of a 3/4 slot he showed quick arm speed with a loose action. His delivery was controlled with some rhythm and he created a good downward tilt with his hips and shoulders. He pitches with some effort. His fastball was consistently 84-87 on a cold, windy day with some run. He topped out at 89 a few times, most noticeably in the top of the fifth to complete striking out the side. His change-up continues to be his best secondary pitch with near fastball arm speed at 71-73. His Change-up showed good, late fade and seemed to have developed more sink to compliment the lateral movement. His BB was 71-73 with power, 11/5 action although his command of this pitch was erratic. One of his biggest improvements was his time to the plate from the stretch, cutting it down into a more managable 1.3-1.5 to the plate.

3.8.16 - 2018 RHP Stephen Pelli also made his second appearance of the spring, pitching 85-88 hitting 89 once. He pitches with some effort with a shorter, quick arm action and fast arm speed. Got under the fastball at times, but showed good downhill action and some sink on fastball. Secondary stuff shows nice action and shape.  Breaking ball has tight rotation and late break with 11/5 action. Change up has hard dive to the pitch.  Keeps fastball arm speed on both pitches.

2.21.15 - Stephen Pelli is a 5-foot-10 180-pound RHP/3B.  He has a solid frame that will get stronger.  He has average hands and a clean exchange, throwing from a high ¾ arm slot with short arm action.  His infield velocity was 78 mph. He hits from a balanced setup with a sweeping swing and average balance throughout the swing.  His exit velocity was 80 mph showing some strength. Pelli projects well on the mound.  He throws from a high ¾ arm slot with quick arm speed and good arm action.  He has good rhythm in his clean delivery and throws with some effort.  His fastball has good late run with command at 84 mph.  He throws an 11/5 breaking ball that is early break with potential to get better.  He shows an advanced for his age feel for the changeup at 66-68 mph with fastball arm speed and good sink on the pitch.  Pelli will is an interesting prospect to follow and looks to be more advanced on the mound at this early age.  He should be an interesting player to follow.
