6/16/15- MN Top Prospect
6-foot-5, 205-pound right-handed pitcher. Hanson, a U. of Kentucky commit, has pushed himself up to being one of the PBR area’s top arms for 2016. Projectable body that will continue to add strength and size. Fastball has boring action and gets on hitters quick with downhill plane. Fastball was 87-90 mph. Curveball is loose at times but flashes tight rotation and developing feel for pitch at 75-79 mph. Carved through line-up in brief outing at this event.
6/23/15 - Midwest Procase
Although Hanson is the No. 1-ranked prospect in Minnesota and already committed to Kentucky, the 6-foot-6, 210-pound right-hander was not a well-known commodity among area pro scouts. That is, until his one-inning stint at the ProCase. Hanson established himself as a high-level national prospect, and one of the top pitchers in the Prep Baseball Report coverage area thanks to arguably the most dominant performance at the loaded event. For his size, Hanson is athletic and still growing into his frame. Working from a high-3/4 slot, Hanson has wide shoulders, a clean, repeatable in-line delivery, and works downhill well. His fastball sat 91-93 mph with heavy, late finish from a steep plane. His curveball ranged between 79-80 mph with 11/5 shape and quality depth. He threw consistent strikes with both his fastball and curveball. Hanson retired all three batters he faced, which included two strikeouts, his final one with a 93-mph fastball.

2/28/15- MN Preseason All-State

6-foot-5, 205-pound right-handed pitcher. Highly projectable build. Lands closed to plate with good direction. Fastball shows hard boring action with downhill plane. Short high ¾ action with arm speed. Fastball was consistently 87-89; topping out at 90 mph. Good feel for zone with 3 pitches. Breaking ball was firm with 12/6 shape and tight rotation at 78-80 mph. Showed ability to throw for strikes and spot in zone and take away from hitter. Changeup was heavy and had good fade down in zone. Presently the top 2016 pitching prospect in the state. Will continue to mature and add strength. Feel for 3 pitches, present velocity, and ceiling to improve.
1/15/15- NOTES
6-foot-5, 205-pound right-handed pitcher. Hanson has shown well in the brief appearances he has made in front of college recruiters and professional scouts. Fastball has been routinely clocked 86-89 mph with reports coming in of him touching velocities in the low 90's. Fastball is downhill with good action. Changeup shows fade and is thrown in the upper 70's range. Shows feel for breaking ball with quality shape; but lacks arm speed with the pitch typically thrown in the upper 60's. Arm works well and body projects to continue to add size and strength.
