6/16/15- MN Top Prospect
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Riach had one of the best Spring seasons in the state of Minnesota. Routinely pounds the zone with 4 quality offerings. Fastball is in the low 80’s with late ASR inducing weak contact routinely. He hides the ball from hitters and is rarely squared up. True 4 pitch mix that he throws in any count. Rarely walks hitters and attacks zone. Doesn’t over power hitters but works fast, keeps them off-balance, and is athletic on mound fielding his position and controlling the running game.
2/28/15- MN Preseason All-State
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Continues to impress on the mound. Above average feel for 3 pitches. Competitive in bottom of zone. Velocity continues to climb. Up to 83 mph at this event. Thin frame. All 3 pitches show good action. Throws softer curveball with 12/6 shape for strikes. Also harder slurve/slider at 71 mph with 11/5 shape and deeper break. Changeup will flatten out at times when he flies open with front side. Cuts and sinks pitches with depth. Tough guy to consistently be able to square up.
Mankato Preseason I.D.
6-foot-2, 160-pound 2-way player. Worked out as a 2-way player. Lean athletic body. 7.57 60 time. 80 mph across infield with 85 mph exit velocity off tee. Shows good feet and hands in field. Moves well with accurate throws across the diamond. Good weight shift and has bat speed with line drive swing plane. Continues to work from right side of rubber. Direction to plate is better since October 2014 event. Fastball was 80-82 mph with downhill tilt. Occasionally shows 2-seam action to inner half of plate. Good feel for changeup to left-handed hitters. Throws curveball and slider. Would benefit from using one breaking ball grip and varying speed instead of 2 separate pitches. Overall shows athletic ability and is making positive adjustments mechanically.
October 2014
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed pitcher. Long lanky projectable body. Room to grow and continue to fill out. Works from far right-hand side of rubber. Creates different angle on hitter. Minimal effort in pitches. Comes out of hand easy. Shows ability to throw 3 pitches for strikes down in zone. Strides open; tends to miss arm side at times. Fastball shows occasional boring 2-seam life at 78-80 mph. Curveball and slider are similar in velocity and action. Thrown with 12/6 shape, has tight rotation, and sharp break at the end. Has above average feel for changeup. Looks very comfortable throwing for quality strikes. Near fastball arm speed with slight ASR. Has ability to pitch right now; minor mechanical adjustments and physical development should translate into velocity gains. Good Follow Prospect into spring and summer.
