Jones is a 5-foot-9, 175-pound, switch hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. At the event he ran a 4.46 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 93 mph on the left side and 86 mph on the right side. During hitting evaluations, Jones shows a balanced swing with quick bat speed from both sides of the plate, from the left side he uses a reverse toe tap to load, loose hands, extensions through the baseball, showed pop to mainly pull side, while on the right side uses a small leg lift to load, loose hands, barrel control, balanced swing, gap-to-gap pop. Defensively, athletic actions, fluid footwork, quick arm, high three quarter release, soft hands, very accurate throws.

6/12/18 - Jones is a 5-foot-9 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.35 60 and a 4.59 home to first.  He has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, simple and repeatable, balanced stance, smooth load with no wasted movement, body stays under control, level and loose hands, gap to gap line drives, consistent hard contact during hitting evals.  Behind the plate, pop times between 1.91 and 2.01-seconds, 73 mph positional velocity, short over the top arm slot, quick catch and throw, footwork and exchange in sync, feet create slight momentum, repeats movements with accurate throws with carry.

6/13/17 - Jones is a strong-bodied 5-foot-9 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.63 laser timed 60 and a 4.69 home to first.  He has an 80 mph exit velo. At the plate, aggressive swinger, smooth load into back side, in line stride, balanced set up, loose and quick hands, short path to contact, hands work inside ball.  Behind the plate, pop times between 1.99 and 2.13-seconds, over the top release, lower arm slot, 74 mph positional velo, glove to hand transfer on time with feet, aggressive and fluid actions, accurate throws. In game action, grounded out twice to shortstop and singled to right field. On the mound, Jones has a simple and repeatable delivery, accelerates down the mound, high three quarters arm slot, strong build, loose arm action, fastball has slight late run, 75-78 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 rolling action, throws both pitches for strikes, pitching to mostly soft contact.

10/23/16 - Jones is a strong and durable 5-foot-8 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.31 60 and a 4.72 home-to-first.  He has an exit velo of 68 mph. At the plate, advanced hitting approach, balanced set up with controlled leg kick, in line stride with accelerated hands, gap to gap approach, aggressive, flashing oppo pop, solid consistent contact during batting practice, doubled to left center in game action.  Behind the plate, short over the top arm slot, quick feet in sync with exchange, quick catch and throw, pop times between 1.95-2.02-seconds, one of the top times for the event, mostly accurate throws, 76 mph positional velo, one of the top catcher's velos for the event. On the mound, Jones turned in an impressive inning throwing a high number of strikes, striking out four, walking two, threw primarily fastball, 74-78 mph, showed late life with some cutting action, heavy ball, works both sides of the plate, breaking ball is still a work in progress, 64-67 mph, gradual 12-to-6 action, change up at 70 mph, repeats delivery, over the top release, body stay under the control.
