12/27/14 - Leatherwood is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder. On the mound showed a simple, up-tempo delivery, quick high three-quarters arm action, repeats. Fastball 83-85 mph, several 85’s towards the end of bullpen work, topped out at 86, around the zone, velocity range trending up. Breaking ball with 11/5 shape, sharp at times, feel, 72-74 mph. Change-up 77-78 mph. Despite being small in stature he’s shown a velocity range bump over the last year and has the simple delivery/clean arm action built to deliver strike-after-strike. Also showed some of the best infield actions during defensive work at shortstop and ran a 6.87 60-yard dash.

2/17/14 – Leatherwood is a 5-foot-9 155-pound second baseman.  He has fluid footwork and short, quick release on the infield.  He has a positional velo of 75 MPH and an over-the-top arm slot. His throws were mostly accurate across the infield.  At the plate, Leatherwood has a simple, smooth load and level path.  He gets good extension with an exit velocity of 84 MPH.  His swing path produces line drives to the pull gap.  His home-to-first time was 4.35.

2/17/13 – Leatherwood is a 5-foot-9 155-pound right-handed pitcher.  His fastball sits at 80-82 with some late cut.  He did register a pitch at 85 MPH.  He showed a 11/5 curveball at 68-67 MPM and a change-up at 75-76 MPH.  His change-up is consistently down in the zone with some sink.   He has a high ¾ delivery and loose, quick arm.  He stays in-line throughout his delivery and has an athletic finish.  Look for Leatherwood to be consistently in the mid-80’s as he keeps developing.

12/28/13 - Leatherwood is a little, athletic RHP with a simple delivery that pumped strikes at a level above all other participants at the showcase.  His delivery is near flawless and he has quick, clean arm action.  His fastball registered in the 81-83 mph range with a 69-71 slurve-ish type breaking ball.  Because his delivery is so repeatable he has a chance to develop high-level command in the future.  He also showed good actions and made strong, accurate throws during the infield workouts.  Leatherwood ran a 7.22 60-yard dash.  He plays with the KC Barnstormers organization in the off-season.
