Super 60: Oklahoma recruit. 5-foot-11, 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher, strong compact build, defined lower half. Showcased well-rounded tools with all-around solid showing at the Super 60. Athletic defender, moves well laterally, relaxed, confident receiver with soft hands, flexible hips, low setup, and fires out the chute well with quick directional footwork. Average arm strength, lower slot, 76 mph from the crouch with pop times ranging between 1.86-2.01. Accurate throws on the bag. Athleticism evident by running a 6.95 laser-timed 60, powerful strider. Offensively, hits from a balanced, athletic setup, excellent pre-pitch rhythm with moderate leg lift back, generates above-average bat speed, strong hands, utilizes lower half well. Longer path, maintains balance through contact. Aggressive overall approach. Registered 97 mph exit velocity with wood.

6/16/15 - Mitchell Is a 5-foot-11 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher in the 2017 class.  Mitchell is combination of strength and athleticism.  He runs a 6.78 60 and posted a 91 mph exit velo, both among the top for the event. At the plate, starts with a wide stance, uses a toe touch to load, minimal movements in hands.  Level path to extension, fast bat speed, ability to hit to both gaps.  On the infield, Mitchell posted one of the top velos on the day at 82 mph, quick feet, has range laterally, over-the-top release, clean exchange, accurate throws. During catching evaluations, quick movements in glove-to-hand exchange and feet, over-the-top release, aggressive momentum towards second base, pop times between 1.90 and 2.00, top times of the event.

1/19/15 - Mitchell is a class of 2017 right-hand hitting catcher that attends Platte County HS in Platte City, MO. Strong, athletic 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame. At the plate showed a balanced set-up, slightly open stance, level path out front, strong hands, fast bat, lower half works, maintains balance. Made hard, flat contact in the middle of the field. Exit velocity 87 mph – second best mark in camp. Ran a 4.07 home-to-first from the right side – best mark in camp. Behind the plate showed simple, quick footwork, quick release, no wasted movement, short over-the-top throwing motion, 1.85-1.92 pop times – best in camp. 76 mph throwing velocity, throws had carry, very accurate. Major college prospect with serious tools.

6/4/14 - Mitchell is a projectable, athletic 5-foot-11, 185-pound C/OF. He posted an event best POP of 1.93. He showed very quick feet and a position velo of 73 MPH. At the plate, Mitchell had a balanced setup with a smooth load and short stride. His lower half is explosive with good balance through his swing. Justin has good bat speed with gap-to-gap and pull power. His exit velo was an event best 90 MPH.
