Tristan Stevens started Saturday's contest. With his bread-n-butter, an above average slider/cutter at 84-87 mph and 90-91 fastball, the right hander tossed 6.1 IP, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out seven.

3/10/19

Fastball sat 86-88 mph with armside sink. Slider was a plus pitch at 83-84. Stevens is 2019 draft eligible after sitting out last season recovering from Tommy John surgery which he had in May of 2017.

10/14/18: Perhaps the most impressive performance on the mound came from a bit of an unlikely area. Texas redshirt sophomore Tristan Stevens threw a perfect frame in the 14th inning, and looked like an intriguing arm that could eventually start games for the Longhorns. Out of an easy delivery with a quick arm, Stevens threw a lively two-seamer with above average life at 88-91 MPH and snapped off a very sharp, late-breaking slider at 85-86 MPH that came out of a similar look and path as a four-seam fastball. Stevens, who is about 18 months removed from Tommy John surgery, didn’t show his entire arsenal, but he has more pitches to work with too. As he throws more innings, it looks like he has more velocity in the tank that will begin to show. (McComas)

6/01/15

2015 First Team All-Ozark Conference Outfield

10/05/14

Stevens worked to get ahead with his fastball at 76-79 mph and used his slider as an out pitch at 66-67 mph.  He notched three strikeouts, walked one and allowed one hit in two innings.

6/17/14

Stevens was very efficient with his pitches working an extended inning during his outing.  He is a 6-foot-1 162-pound righty with command for four pitches in the zone.  Stevens had a fastball between 78-81 MPH and showed an 11-to-5 curveball with late movement at 69-72 MPH.  He threw his change up at 70-71 MPH with armside release and showed a slider at 70-71 MPH.  Stevens has a quick, loose arm with a high ¾ delivery.  He throws with easy effort and kept hitters off balance, mixing his pitches.

6/17/14

Stevens is a 6-foot-1 162-pound second-baseman. Stevens has soft hands with a clean exchange at 2B.  He has smooth footwork and gets to the ball with aggressive actions.  He made accurate throws at 83 MPH.  At the plate, Stevens starts with an athletic position and has a smooth load.  He has a level bat path with extension. He has a line-drive approach to both gaps and average bat speed.  He has an 83 MPH exit velo with a 4.8 home-to-first. During the scrimmage, Stevens smashed a double down the left field line.

1/04/14

Stevens is a 6-foot, 160-pound right-hander with a medium athletic frame who works from a ¾ arm slot with some effort.  He demonstrated early balance and worked down in the strike zone with a 77-79 mph fastball.  He also showed a 67-68 breaking ball and 72-74 change-up.  As his body and arm get more synced up in his delivery he should gain velocity and command.
