The leadoff hitter for the Wildcats, Schultz is the “energy guy” every good team possesses. At 5-foot-8, 195 pounds he is strong, compact and athletic. He’s also quick and fast, using that combination on the base paths to swipe 12 bags in 12 attempts so far this spring. After batting .393 as a sophomore last season, the right-handed hitter currently leads Kentucky with a .352 batting average in 2021. With an aggressive approach he hits upright and linear which allows him to get out of the box quickly. His attack mode at the plate was easy to spot when he swung at the very first pitch of the series. It’s a front foot, timing-based swing that showed some swing/miss, especially with the breaking ball at times. But, with good hand/eye and grit in the box he makes it work, all good for a .319 career batting average to date. With average arm strength, good hands and baseball instincts he has versatility all over the diamond. After playing shortstop his freshman season in Lexington and splitting time between shortstop, second base and right field in 2020, he fits best in center field for the 2021 Wildcats.

5-foot-8, 170-pound shortstop showed top overall athleticism including a 6.72 60 yard sprint. At the plate, showed a linear swing that produces middle to pull side line drives. High motor on the infield with active footwork, soft hands and above average velocity of 88 mph across the infield for his age. Potential top 2018 infield prospect for the state of Nebraska.
