Trevor Perks, RHP, Rancocas Valley High School, Gallagher Team Mizuno 16U, 2017
9/20/15 -- Perks hits from the right side with a tall, open stance and gets to even with his stride. His load works in parts as he likes to get his foot down early. He has a smooth swing with a pull side approach. He does a fine job in the outfield, making appropriate jumps and taking proper routes on ground balls. His upside is on the mound where he pitches with an uptempo delivery and a quarter turn at the top of his leg lift to add some deception. He has a long, fluid arm action and pitches from a ¾ to high ¾ arm slot. His fastball has some life to it at 78-81 miles-per-hour and he has some occasional cut due to early front side rotation. His changeup is his best off-speed pitch as it has like arm side fade. He likes to use his breaking ball as a change of pace early in the count and will drop it in between 65-67 MPH.
6/13/15 -- Standing at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, he has a strong and athletic build. On the mound, he seemed to battle some timing issues early, breaking his hands at different points in his delivery. He could benefit by minimizing his movements before leg lift. As he settled down, his command of a three pitch mix greatly increased. He pitched with a ¾ arm slot and had a loose, clean arm action with some elbow climb. When he found some repeatability, he started throwing his fastball with angle at 77-80 miles-per-hour. He also showed tight spin on an 11/5 curveball which he could throw in and out of the zone at 67-70 MPH. Perks also flashed good feel for a nice changeup at 73-74.
