Unsigned Senior Showcase (October 30, 2016)

Giambra stands a projectable 6-foot-4, 195-pounds with a long lower half. On the mound he uses a fluid  pace to his delivery, drives slightly across his body from a deep-clean arm-action. Releases the ball from a 3/4 arm slot, fastball topped 78 mph with some arm-side tail. He mixed in what appeared to be a split-finger-change at 72-74 with some late down bite.  Offensively- Starts in a slightly crouched stance with some inward shoulder turn, hands loose and athletic. On the pitch he uses a smooth back load, hips slide forward, hands work on a short quick path to the ball, barrel stays through the contact zone a long time with some lift. Bat-speed has improved from last year, up 10 mph from 81-to-91 mph. Short extension with balance through the swing. Defensively- Runs well with good long levers, evidenced by his 7.02 60 yard dash time. Arm has some carry with a long arm-action at 79 mph, takes him a little too long to get rid of the ball. Overall, highly projectable athlete that has shown steady improvement, a great sign of more to come as he develops for the next-level - still uncommitted.
NY Open ID (January 31, 2016)
Frank is an athletic 6-foot-4 180 pound RHP/OF who ran a respectable 7.08 60 and a 4.09 home-to-1B. Offensively- Frank starts in a balanced and even stance with a smooth and controlled load of the hands to a 45 degree angle launch position. Uses a slight leg kick, staying behind the ball into contact. Accelerates his hands through the ball, staying in the zone post contact. Line drive results and reproduces efforts with ease. Exit velocity was 83 MPH. Defensively-  As an outfielder Frank stays under control with his approach and setup. Shows a proper setup behind the ball, gaining momentum through his crowhop. Throws were accurate and online with his velocity at 73 MPH. More in the tank here as gauged by his pitching. Pitching- On the mound Frank sets up to his arm side, using a short drop step up to a belt high balance point. Hands break from the belt into a long arm action that works through a high 3/4 slot. Lands on his heel with a soft front knee which may lead to getting under the ball at times. Showed good arm speed and acceleration. Early in the year along with his frame and arm action, would lead us to believe that there will be additional velocity come spring time. FB sat 77-78 MPH with his change up in the 67-68 MPH range, with arm side run.
