New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Von Holten sits at 6-foot-0; 180 pounds with strong athletic frame. Clocked with a 7.44 – 60. Offensively-Sets up square to the pitcher with a wide stance. Hands just behind neck and in front of back shoulder. On pitch his trigger is a quiet toe tap forward with his hands moving back slightly into a good hitting position. Good bat path though the hitting zone with a high two handed finish and good rotation on bottom half. Showed some pull side drive during BP. Recorded Exit Velocity of 82 mph at NYS Games but recorded an 88 mph exit velocity in February of 2016. Defensively- Quiet when framing pitches. Setus up to throw with a slight collaspe on his inside knee. Good catch, transfer and release; throwing downhill to target. Could extend his reach/extension longer to allow for some better carry on throws. Recorded a pop time of 2.03 improving from his February 2016 showing of 2.07.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Stands 6-foot, 165-pounds with a lanky athletic frame that has room to fill out. He ran a 7.58 60.  Offensively- Sets up wide and uses some movement in the hands prior to loading at shoulder level and flattening out through the zone.  Joseph doesn't get cheated in the box with an exit speed of 88-mph. Defensively- Sets up on the inside of his feet and shows consistent footwork and transfer keeping his body in line with 2nd and showing a 2.07 pop time. VonHolten should be a solid college catcher down the road.  With more time in the weight room he's going to see gains in his game all around.

Last Chance Preview (Nov 29, 2015)
At the plate he uses an upright stance wide base, barrel is high. On the pitch he uses a heel lift for timing, as he loads back the barrel drops. Hands stay inside the ball, barrel path is mostly flat through contact, some extension with a shoulder high finish, at times he rolls on his front foot, continued balance and timing drills will help.

Eastern NY All-Star Games (September 13, 2015)
Stands at 6-foot-0, 165 pounds, with an athletic body build.  Defensively – As a catcher, he throws with a clean loose action.  He receives the ball with soft hands and has a quick transfer. He blocks the ball keeping everything in front of him.  His pop times were consistently at 2.18 pop time down to second base.  Offensively - At the plate his setup is relaxed, short stride, with a back load.  His hands are very compact, swinging on a level plane, good extension through the ball, and has a mid-section to shoulder high finish.
