Steven Gerringer RHP (Arlington HS, 2015)

8-16-14
Pitching- Gerringer stands 5-foot-10 150-pounds with plenty of room to add some weight. On the mound he uses a quick tempo, keeps his hands high, and uses straight shoulder alignment. He throws from a low ¾ slot generating natural arm side sink and tail, his fastball was consistently around 80-81 mph and his curveball had nice 11/5 shape with an early hump at 65 mph. I would like to see him finish his pitches more over his knee out in front.

MIF/Hitting - Gerringer stands 5-foot-10 150-pounds with a frame that can hold more. From the infield he shows plus actions and balance getting around the baseball. He fields the ball in the middle of his stance, funnels to his belt with an average transfer but clean. He gets through his throws from a low ¾ slot with arm strength at 76 mph. At the plate his weight is slightly shifted back with a balanced approach. On the pitch he uses a small stride and drives his hands to the ball staying inside the ball. His bat path stays level through the hitting plane and he uses long extension with a strong high finish. His exit velocity was 82 mph.

7-2-14

Gerringer stands 5-foot-10 150-pounds and athletic. On the mound he throws from a low/mid 3/4 slot with arm side run at 80-82 mph. His fastball has late action to it down in the zone. His curveball has an 11/5 shape at 68 mph. He also threw a 69 mph change up that has near fastball hand speed. Mechanically he opens up early with his glove side rotating his shoulders east and west with arm slot in a power position. At the plate he sets up balanced and uses a short load and stride before the swing. His swing path is level through the zone and finishes high. His exit velocity was 83 mph. At the MIF he uses baseball actions to get around the ball, fields ball out in front of his body and throws from a sidearm / very low 3/4 slot at 79 mph with a quick transfer.
