May 2016
The senior Mercyhurst U commit stands 6-foot-2 and 190-pounds with a lean projectable frame as a college outfielder. He’s been showing all season why he’s going to be an attractive hitter in a college lineup someday. Using a slightly open stance and relaxed set up, he creates good separation at load and maintains great bat path in the zone allowing him to spray balls all over the field and not only hit for power but for average. With a strong athletic frame there’s only more power to come.
New York Games (July 2015)
Stands at 6-foot-2-inches, 185-pounds a strong, athletic body type. He has a good glove from the OF and shows some range on both sides of the ball. Clean and loose arm action with good accuracy to the target. At the plate his setup is balanced and relaxed, using timing mechanism to start hands through the zone, no stride. Keeps bat level through the hitting zone and has a short, quick path with his hands. Shows good contact ability with a mid-section finish after contact. Follow guy.

2/15/15
Chiarenza stands 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with a great physical build. At the plate the physical tools are all there. Needs to become more aggressive with attacking the ball. His setup is wide, loads back on the pitch, hands stay inside the playing field. Short extension on contact, shoulder high finish, athletic swing. From the OF goes back on the ball well, keeps ball in front, clean exchange. Long back arm action to a high-3/4 slot, arm strength at 76 mph. Ran a 7.06 60 yard dash.

Chiarenza stands 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with a great physical build. He was a stood out throughout the position players "Winter Combine" in orchard park January 3rd.  Not only did he have the highest Vertical Leap at 30" of the day he also Broad Jumped 8 feet, tied for the fastest Pro agility at 4.41 seconds, and was tied for the 2nd fastest 10 yard dash at 1.75 seconds.  He also showed great upper body explosiveness finishing top overall with a 22'10" on the 10lb medicine ball pass.  From the outfield Chiarenza sets up behind the ball and comes through his throws with fundamentally sound mechanics.  The ball jumps out of his hand and shows good carry after release. At the plate he starts with a strong wide base and uses a very limited stride/load pattern.  This kept him compact and direct to the ball which resulted in consistent contact.  He still needs to show more consistent use of his lower half in order to really show next level power but right now he projects as a prototype outfielder at the next level with +quickness and +power potential at the plate.  He will be attending the PBR Invite Only event at Oswego February 15th.
