NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Impressive 6-foot-5, 210-pound first baseman. Offensively - smooth and loose at the plate, keeps the bat on a level plane throughout the zone, extends for an exit velocity of 91 MPH, consistently drives the ball to middle third of the field, but quick enough hands to turn on inside pitch, engages lower body for power with some evidence of inner knee rotation. Defensively - comfortable and poised with a sure glove, smooth and easy transfer with accurate to any base at 76 MPH.
NY All-Star Games (September 17, 2016)
Moffett checks in at an imposing 6-foot-5, 210 pounds. Offensively- Legitimate pull side power hitting from a spread stance with little pre-pitch movement. Aggressive lower half with an improved, shorter swing path into the zone. Ball jumps off the bat; run producing threat who can hit for average and power. Exit velocity improved to 94 MPH. Next level middle of the order prospect. Defensively- Up right setup; side shuffles into fielding position. Stays tall in fielding position; over the top arm slot with a standard infield arm action. Suitable arm at 74 MPH, just under his previous best of 78 MPH in June.
NY Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Moffet is a physical specimen a 1B/OF, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 210 pounds. Offensively- Hands start off of back shoulder, feet wide and weight backloaded. Smooth heel lift load, and quiet hands leave little room for error in Moffett’s swing. Great lift, finishes on back leg, finishes high with one-arm. Power will continue to improve as Moffett matures. Displayed gap power with booming double to left center in game. Exit velocity: 92 MPH. Defensively- Big target to throw to at 1B, gets off base well and fields ball upright. Moffet is very athletic for his size; agile on his feet and gets his body into proper throwing position. Suitable to above average arm at 1B; 78 MPH.
Border Battle (October 18, 2015)
Davey opened some eyes with his bat. A big-bodied kid with both bat-speed and strength, he translates that unique combination to the game. Offensively- Davey hits from a spread stance with little motion for his timing. Accelerates through the ball and has tremendous extension. Ball comes off the bat with a purpose. In game one he hit a 2-RBI double in the left field gap that got to the fence in a hurry. He shows savvy plate presence for his age - maybe a touch passive, but he's young. If he gets a little more aggressive with the stick, he's going to be fun to watch. Defensively- Adequate defender around the bag, moves feet well and was soft with the glove. Presents large target and with offensive capabilities, we don't seeing too many people moving him off the bag to another position.
