6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect. Ran a 7.65 60-yard dash. Top catcher in attendance. Looked the part in his defensive workout behind the plate. His flexible hips allow him to remain athletic in his low crouch. Has very quick footwork and does a nice job of gaining ground to second base during his transfer. Transfer skills are there and throws were consistently on the bag. Registered pop times of 1.94-2.07. At the plate he starts in a slightly open setup before using a knee pinch load and short stride to get back to even. Hands stay simple and swing is compact. Consistently found the barrel in batting practice and worked well to his pull side. Reached a top exit velocity of 73 mph.
8/7/16
6-foot-2, 190-pound athletic, projectable frame. At the plate he shifts his weight into his back leg during his small leg kick load. During his stride he transfers weight into contact. Showed impressive pop when he full transferred back to front side but has a tendency to get caught on back side. Path is slightly uphill with above average batspeed. Top exit velocity was 83 mph. Behind the plate he showed quickness to both his feet and his transfer. Pop times ranged from 2.01-2.14, and he threw with 68 mph arm strength.
2/13/16
6-foot-2, 190-pound athletic, projectable frame. Was impressive behind the plate, consistently producing pop times between 1.98-2.0. Has above average transfer skills with a short, quick release. Would like to see him gain more ground to second base during his transfer. With clean arm action he threw with 71 mph arm strength to second base. At the plate the right starts in a slightly open stance and uses a leg kick/short stride combo to get back to even. Bat starts vertical and he is able to produce some whip through the zone on a level path. Has good rhythm to his swing sequence and reached a top exit velocity of 82 mph. Ran a 7.94 60-yard dash.
