1/27/18

6-foot-1, 160 pound right-hand hitting catcher creates good separation in his load followed by a good, level bat path that stayed in the zone long for good contact. Sutter recorded a 78 mph exit velocity and that can be improved if base and core become more stable throughout his swing so he doesn’t fall back in his finish. Behind the plate he threw a 2.08-2.14 pop time along with a 78 mph velocity down to second base. His performance was one of the best at the event as he  puts forth great effort into every action he takes. He receives the ball very well going and getting pitches while sticking them on top of displaying great footwork in getting to a powerful throwing position. His transfer process is quick and efficient leading to strong, accurate throws on the bag. Will be a good addition to a college program next year as he develops further.

11/22/17

A two-way prospect that impressed with his performance on both sides of the ball. On the hill the right-hander has an uptempo delivery that he can repeat. Arm is loose and works well through a high-¾ slot. Actions on the mound are fluid in general. Tosses a two and four seam fastball. Looks to have a higher spin rate on the four seam with more run to the two seam, sitting 76-79 mph. Maintains arm speed on his 74-75 mph changeup. The offering doesn’t have much action both the speed difference is enough to produce weak contact. Also will spin a tight, near 12/6 breaking ball at 68-71 mph. A versatile defender that impressed both behind the dish and in the infield. Behind the plate he recorded sub 2.0 pop times consistently, ranging from 1.94-1.98. Threw with accuracy to second base, showing 73 mph arm strength. At third base he uses quick footwork prior to fielding, showing athleticism to his actions. Glove is an above average tool and he maintains actions/ball skills on the move. Threw across the diamond with 76 mph arm strength. At the plate he swings it from the right side in a tall stance. Goes with a toe turn to gets things going while taking hands back to launch. Swing is compact with the barrel traveling on a slightly downhill plane. A line drive type guy who has well above average natural tools. Leveling out swing could unlock some untapped juice in there. Reached a top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. Also should be noted that Sutter showed jumps in every measurable since we saw him in August.

8/6/17
A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Uses a toe turn to get lower half involved. Hands stay simple prior to launch. Bat has noticeable whip through the zone on a level path. Good athlete with some twitch. An all fields hitter that produces consistent ball flight. Line drive guy with gap capability. Behind the plate he starts in a mid crouch. Gets out of his stance well. Actions are athletic. Transfer is clean and easy. Throws were mostly on the bag.

6/14/17
The 6-foot prospect showed much athleticism at the event. A right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic setup. Load is fluid and efficient. Barrel maintains momentum throughout load into launch. Bat has some whip to it working on a slightly downhill path. A line drive type guy now that showed the ability to find the gap. Natural tools are above average. Look athletic and comfortable behind the plate. Catch and throw abilities are above average. In bullpens he received well and looked confident when having to block.

Pop Time: 1.96-2.04

2/18/17

6-foot, 150-pound prospect. Behind the dish, he starts slightly open. Takes a big jab step to his glove side. Has room to get quicker with his footwork, but always maintained good direction. Gets tall out of his crouch. Shows quick hand with his transfer. Pop times ranged between 2.06-2.14. Offensively, he has the look of a contact guy that can consistently find the barrel. Swing is short and compact on a downhill path. Barrel gets in and out of the zone quickly. Does a nice job of staying fluid throughout his swing sequence.
