2/12/17
A strong frame at 6-foot-0, 200-pound. Northcut, a Vanderbilt recruit, has a low effort delivery as it looks like he is playing catch at 86-88 mph. He uses his fastball in a variety of ways, consistently going to a two-seam and a cutter - both of which show good movement. In addition, he showed feel for a breaking ball that should get outs at the next level. Northcut started off his day by tying the PBR Ohio record of 105 mph exit velocity (but, he did it using a wooden bat). In batting practice he repeatedly showed power potential, driving ball after ball with authority. The righty has a very fluid loading sequence and produces serious juice while remaining under control. He continues to show improve physique along with the arm strength (94 mph across the diamond) to play third base at the next level. It will be interesting how he is used once he gets to Vanderbilt’s campus as he has the skillset to make an impact on the mound, at the plate, or both.

6/8/15
6-foot, 209-pound solid body frame. You would never guess Northcut is as young as he is, young prospect with tools. From the infield he shows pretty good footwork approaching ground balls, fielding the ball out front with his hands for the most part. He throws using a short, clean arm action coming from a ¾ slot, while reaching a top velocity of 76 mph. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance getting himself back to being squared up to even before he swings. He does a tremendous job of using his lower half to create his power. He uses a fluid hands back to shoulder load. Swings with the bat head pretty much staying level in the zone and finishes mixing up his follow through with one and two hands. He showed impressive bat speed and strength, especially for his age when he hit a homerun during his round of batting practice. Showed the ability to use the opposite side of the field with power in a plate appearance during game play, when he barrelled up the baseball, and hit a triple down the right field line. He reached a top exit velocity of 93 mph and ran a 7.50 60-yard dash. On the mound his delivery requires regular effort, with good rhythm and tempo. He has a higher leg kick, and tilts shoulders for leverage on his pitches. He lands in a straight line, even at foot strike. He throws using average arm speed through a higher ¾ slot. His fastball was between 83-86 mph. He threw a curveball at 61-63 mph with gradual break at an 11/5 plane. He threw a slider with a more tighter action than his curveball at 69 mph. He also flashed a changeup using fastball arm speed at 74 mph.

2/7/15
6-foot, 209-pound solid build. This young two-way prospect will start getting attention after his performance. On the mound the righty has a quick tempo delivery with strong lower-½. Throws from a loose, high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 84-85 mph. Shows two different breaking balls. His curveball is slower with a big 11/5 break at 65-68 mph. His slider is a lot harder with later break at 76-78 mph. Really showed a solid changeup at 70-73 mph with good life and some sink. From the infield he projects as a third base type. Shows soft hands and a clean exchange especially for his age. Throws from a easy ¾ slot with 81 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that shows good balance from a spread out stance. Has quick hands and shows a lot of power for his age. Registered an impressive and showcase best exit velocity of 90 mph and ran a 4.79 home to first. Will be interesting to see how he progresses.
