1/27/18

Troyer was electric stuff wise, led by his 87-90 mph fastball. Both breaking balls were impressive, showing more feel for the near 12/6 curveball. Spins it well, as the offering drops off the table with depth. Playing around with a slider that has a chance to be a lights out offering if he can gain feel for it. The pitch shows late, heavy action across the plate at 84-85 mph.

6/6/17
A right-handed pitching prospect in the 2019 class. Works exclusively from the stretch. Arm has well-above average arm speed moving through an over the top slot. Delivery requires regular effort. Fastball comes in on a downhill plane at 80-83 mph. His secondary offering of choice is his 12/6 breaking ball. Spin is tight and the pitch has sharp downward action at 71-74 mph.

2/20/17
Paul Troyer burst on to the scene at the Brownlee Scout Day when he ran his fastball up to 88 mph. Troyer followed that up with another impressive performance on this day. His over the top delivery allows him to work out of the same tunnel with his 83-85 mph fastball and his sharp 12/6 breaking ball. Also showed feel for a slider and a changeup.

2/4/17
Young 2019 prospect stands 6-foot-0, 180 pounds. Using a near over the top slot, the right handed pitcher works downhill and gets on the plate quickly. Max effort delivery. Consistently sits between 85-88 mph with his fastball. Breaking ball displays some promise with its late breaking, sharp 11/5 movement at 71-74 mph. Also mixes in a 78-79 mph changeup. At the plate he starts in a tall open setup prior to his leg kick load and controlled stride. His bat tip movement with his upper half gives him solid whip and barrel direction. Tends to keep weight on leg causing an uphill path. Would like to see weight transfer into contact to level out swing and let natural tools show.

1/28/17
6-foot, 180-pound righty is positioning himself as one of the early top arms in the ‘19 class. He possess average height, but he posses an athletic frame with an obviously strong lower half. He throws with effort from a high ¾ to over the top slot. He touched up to 87 mph on a couple of occasions, but typically sat 84-86 with occasional run to his fastball. Breaking ball has a chance to be an effective out pitch at the next level. Needs to develop consistency, but throws it with authority, generating a hard 12/6 break. His changeup moves more like a cutter at 74-75 mph.

1/24/16
6-foot, 170-pound athletic build. Ran a 5.06 from home to first. At the plate the righty uses a short stride with good rhythm to his upper body load. Took an uphill path to the ball while remaining short and compact with his swing. Showed some quickness to his bat in registering an exit velocity of 78 mph. Needs to incorporate more lower half in his swing. In the infield he used athletic footwork and had some softness to his hands. Using clean arm action he threw the ball across the infield with 76 mph arm strength. From the outfield he got excellent use out of his crow hop and showed 81 mph arm strength to home plate. On the mound he gets good momentum to home through a hip load and tilts his shoulders for leverage. Through a high-3/4 slot his fastball sat 76-78 mph. Curveball had some sharpness with an 11/5 shape at 65-69 mph.
