2/18/17
5-foot-9, 175-pound strong build. On the mound the righty has an uptempo delivery that is near max effort. Works through a high-¾ slot with obvious quickness to his arm. Fastball sat 81-83 mph with slight run at times. Ball comes out of his hands well. Tends to lower effort and slow down arm speed on his secondary offerings. Flashed one of the best changeups we saw all day at 68-71. The pitch has heavy run and sink, and he showed solid feel for the pitch. Spins a tight 10/4 breaking ball at 65-68 mph. Defensively, he projects as a corner infield type at this stage. Footwork is average. Would like to see him consistently create angles with his footwork. Transfer has some quickness. Short arm action with top velocity of 78 mph across the infield. Offensively, he worked exclusively to his pull side in batting practice. Takes his hands back to launch during his controlled stride. A back leg hitter that takes an uphill path to the baseball. Would be aided by more weight transfer into contact to let his well above average natural tools show in his swing.
Home to First: 4.9
Infield Velocity: 78
Exit Velocity: 87

5-foot-9, 175-pound thin athletic build. On the mound he shows some rhythm in his delivery. Comes to a tall balance point in his delivery with a straight up and down leg kick. Lands on line at foot strike and finishes square to the plate. Throws from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed. Three pitch mix with the fastball sitting 77-81 mph. Curveball sits 64-67 mph with gradual break. Changeup sits 68-72 mph. At the plate the righty starts with a narrow, open stance. Uses an aggressive stride forward as he takes his hands back to stay balanced. Takes a short, compact path to the ball producing an exit velocity of 84 mph. In the field he had some smoothness to his footwork with a clean transfer and confident hands. Threw across the diamond with 80 mph arm strength and ran a 4.5 from home to first.
