6/18/14 Currey is a 5-foot-9, 170-pound 2B that has a solid frame and creates barrel whip from a slightly open stance with a bat exit velocity of 88 mph. The right-handed hitter showed the ability to drive the baseball to the pull side and capable actions defensively. Currey's 6.74 foot speed and limitations in arm strength (75 mph across diamond) may necessitate a move to the outfield at the next level.
2/15/14 Currey is a 5-foot-9, 170-pound middle infielder that has worked hard to add strength to his frame. He hits from an open stance with a high hands load and the ball jumps off his barrel when squared. He demonstrated an 85 mph bat exit velocity and the ability to barrel the baseball consistently. Currey will need to continue to develop his 72 mph arm defensively. Currey has good foot speed as evidenced by his 4.03 home-to-1B time from the right-hand side of the plate.
11/2/13 Currey is a strong 5-foot-9, 170-pound middle infielder that has shown considerable progress in his game in the past year. The right-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely, showing some gap power potential during his round of batting practice. Currey hits from a slightly open stance and gets to extension consistently with a very solid bat exit velocity of 89 mph. He displayed an improving 75 mph arm across the diamond, but will need to continue to work on his footwork and fluidity as a defender.
6/12/13 Currey showcased a 73 mph arm and soft hands in the middle infield. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound right handed hitter also displayed an 81 mph bat exit velocity hitting out of a slightly open stance. Currey has a tendency to lose his front side early, but squared the baseball frequently in his round of batting practice. He went on to go 1-for-6 at the plate in game play.
2/23/13 Currey turned in an impressive home-to-first time of 4.16 and a solid bat exit velocity of 81 mph. The 5-foot-8, 155-pound prospect had a solid round of batting practice in which he squared most pitches hitting out of a slightly open stance. Currey will need to continue to develop his 71 mph arm to be on par defensively with his offensive skill set.
1/13/13 Currey ran one of the fastest 60-yard dash times of the day at 7.17. He showed the ability to play through the baseball and showed a quick release on throws of 70 mph across the diamond. He showcased a very solid 82 mph bat exit velocity that he used in a solid round of batting practice. Currey uses a short swing path and stays inside the baseball well. He sprayed lined drives and consistently squared the baseball.
