2017 PBR Future Games - Team Pennsylvania

10/28/18 - 6-foot-2, 215-pound Harford CC commit. Arguably the big winner on the day. Platt was a member of the Team Pennsylvania roster at the 2017 PBR Future Games. Has added significant velocity and command since that time. On this day he sat 92-93 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a head wag that did not take him off his mid-line. Fastball is flat with late life up in the zone. A much improved changeup at 82-87 gives Platt a quality second offering. The pitch showed heavy arm-side run and sink and was thrown with good sell. A slider at 77-83 has cutter action and is still a work in progress.

6/14/17 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-hander worked from a 3/4 arm slot.  Initiates delivery with a side-rocker step and utilizes strong lower half to create fastball that sat 84-87. Also displayed a 72 mph curveball with late 11/5 break and an occasional changeup at 77 mph.  Platt worked three scoreless innings allowing one hit while striking out three. His fastball has a chance to be very heavy and induced a number of ground ball outs on this date.  Platt will represent Team Pennsylvania in the 2017 PBR Future Games in August.

7/10/20: Another strong-armed Hoosier in the KCL, Platt is more thrower with a good arm than pitcher at this point in his development. He aggressively attacks the zone with a low-90s heater spinning in the low-2000s. The pitch maintains its velocity better than most fastballs. Typically, a fastball will lose 7-8 mph from the release out of the hand to when it crosses the plate, but Platt’s was consistently just -5 mph. With much effort and Sandy Koufax-type shoulder tilt, Platt presents good deception to the hitter and gets outs with his fastball. Both his 82-83 mph slider and 72-75 mph curve are rudimentary, work-in-progress offerings. In 5 IP this summer, Platt has allowed two hits and struck out seven.
