Rafferty turned in one of the top 60-yard dash times of the day at 7.00. His speed and arm strength (80mph) project him as a center fielder. He also showcased a 79mph bat exit speed velo that helped him drive baseballs to the gap while showing a consistent line drive approach at the plate.
The two-way prospect also had a solid showcase on the mound until he completed his bullpen by unveiling his best pitch. After topping out at 81mph with his fastball, 68mph with a tight breaking 12/6 curveball and 71mph with a changeup that showed late arm-side run, Rafferty asked to show his cutter. The pitch sat 72-74mph with hard, late 10/4 slide. It was easily the nastiest pitch thrown by any of the pitchers at the event. It has the potential to be a dominant out pitch if it can be harnessed.
9/24/12 Rafferty worked the first four innings of Game #2 for the Red Team. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound right hander showcased an 82mph fastball, 67mph curveball, 70mph changeup and a 75mph slider. The slider is a plus pitch that he used repeatedly to chalk up eight strikeouts in his four innings of work.
10/12/12 Rafferty is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect who continues to get better. The talented prospect ran one of the best times of the day in the 60-yard dash at 7.03, threw 78mph from the outfield and had a bat exit speed of 82mph. On the mound, Rafferty pushed through some soreness to work one scoreless inning. Although Rafferty was not at his best, he still mixed a low 80's fastball with a 66mph curveball and a 73mph slider that is a plus pitch.
